...I got St. Anger by Metallica...

Its their latest album, came out on I believe: June 5th, 2003. And, before I get to the bad stuff, I'd like to point out the good things. I think St. Anger, and Invisible Kid are two great songs. And, the album art is good, plus the lyrics booklet is kinda neat. And, another great thing, is that you get a DVD of them performing these songs live. Those are pluses. Now, to the bad stuff. To me, all but the two songs I've stated above SUCK TOTAL ASS. They are so boring, I almost fell asleep. Secondly, the swearing in the song St. Anger is not really needed. He can barely say it in time. And, another thing is, the lyrics are barely original...they are very repetitive in the songs. And, to me, it was a waste of $13. If you're planning on buying yourself a Metallica album, get anything, ANYTHING but St. Anger. Maybe a greatest hits type of album perhaps? But, dont spend your time and money on this album.

I give it: 3 / 10

I think they're all just too old to write good lyrics anymore.

I'm inclined to agree with that. They've lost something, that's for sure. Mind you, I haven't rated anything they've put out after "...Justice..." :( Now that was an album.

I've 'got' St. Anger, but I haven't listened to it yet. If this thread's still floating around when I do, I'll post my thoughts.

some of you (not all :)) REALLY need to learn a few things about music and most of all think or do some research before you talk about a professional band that way.

i don't even really like metallica, i think they are awesome and the best HEAVY metal band in the world (there are billions of types of metal), and i agree that it is probably their least best album. but my brother is a metallica nut and i watched an online documentry (which you can hopefully still view at the metallica website) about the making of it.

with James just out of rehab and the departure of jason the band was about to call it quites when they finally got their new bassist. they decided to just take it easy and not give a toss about money (contrary to Acrylic's statement!) they made it in a house, not a recording studio. the making of this album was a bonding experience to the band that almost died. they all took a turn at writing (not just james and lars). they weren't interested in making stuff that would get to number 1 or not. this album was not professionally engineered and has resulted in being the way it is, whether you like it or hate it, it is different.

and as for acrylic's comment in their singer "saying stuff in time", it is called 'syncapation' and it is done on purpose, this is just a strong use of it, however most metal uses syncapation and diminisheds

say what you will about this album, though their next album i don't think will sound a thing like this.

cheers ;)

More like Grade A You're Wrong. They just don't want you getting MP3s of the work they actually sell. There's a couple metallica bootleg MP3 dumps around the interweb that the 'Ca actually encourages.

ahh, so it is all about the money now... :D
