  1. I started playing on Casual, but then regretted it after a few puzzles. But before I did, I looked up a hint to make the mop head. (Not sure what I was expecting to be honest.) Then I switched to hard and never used the Hint Book... although I came close once or twice.
  2. I agree. The Dark Magic plotline felt largely unexplored. (eg. Why is it different to Voodoo? What would happen if Guybrush starting it? Or LeChuck?, etc.)
  3. Hmm. You make a good argument. You nearly persuaded me view it differently... but then I remembered it's $85. Not for me, but enjoy your purchase!
  4. Yep, I get what you're saying. It was the key art for the remaster in most places, so they're going to use what they have (and it's what people will recognise, too). I guess I never noticed how bland it looked compared to the explosion version before.
  5. Hmm. Not sure you can compare a small icon on a console with actual box art: https://www.mobygames.com/game/full-throttle/cover-art but even so, making than icon bigger looks odd to me. Ben just looks far too calm. They might change it for the final release, though.
  6. Hmm. I guess this is an early mockup, but why not use the explosion on the disc box case? It looks like Ben is just going for a leisurely ride! Either way, this one isn't for me.
  7. I'm partial to the new Melee Forest revamp... but also the very different music that plays when you climb up to the ice castle. It's not something I'd listen to, but it sounds so 1960s, and is so different, that I always enjoy it.
  8. I really enjoy Judge Planke... although I don't know why. His constant frustration amuses me, I think. The great animation on him helps, too.
  9. Yeah, exactly: Fink: "He must have finally got that nasty letter I wrote." Bart: "You sure can write a mean letter, Fink." It's a one way ticket... but the autosave will take you back to where you were before.
  10. I actually turned down the music during one playthrough, too. I don't know, the music is great, but it... never lets up (or it rarely does). A bit of ambiance is nice at times. Also noticed... Anyone know what you can do with the image of the chef?? And an interesting bit of foreshadowing.. And I'm sure this must have already been explained in this thread? The history of XYZZY.
  11. Nah, I don't think so. I read it as just a continuation of Guybrush not getting any recognition for his dubious exploits. (eg. "I heard LeChuck drank so much root beer he exploded.")
  12. On my recent playthrough of MI2 I noticed SO many references to it being a video game. Not sure how that fits in...
  13. Might be better to put this in the spoiler forum since every answer will directly relate to the ending of Return, no? πŸ€”
  14. I agree with The Return's ending as being hubristic. Cooper definitely bit off more than he could chew in trying to save Laura. However, FWWM ends with Laura weeping with joy, safe from Bob in the Black Lodge/Red Room... It's only really The Return that turns it into an unhappy ending. Which is a bit controversial, if you ask me, but I'll go with it. I also don't see the ending of Season 2 as being anything more than attempt to boost ratings with a cliff-hanger ending (like season 1 had). Maybe that's a bit cynical, but, you know, "market realities" and all that (I seem to recall and an interview with Frost/Lynch where they explicitly mentioned having a doozy of a cliff-hanger during the whole "COOP" campaign). (And technically Frost wasn't involved in FWWM or (really) the season 2 finale, but anyway...)
  15. I have I have a someone unique perspective on this having seen it from both sides in real life, but The Simpsons parodied this relationship perfectly...
  16. Read the whole thing. Lovely summation... It also matches what I wrote in the "head canon" thread yesterday
  17. Yes, precisely. I do sympathise with my unrealistic expectations (it would be weird if Ron and Dave remembered every detail after all these years, would they have been replaying their own game for 32 years?? -- eek). On the flip side, who else was ReMI for if not the people who have been wondering about the end of MI2 for decades? So it's a balance... When films do this sort of thing, they tend it get it more right... but that's probably because it's much easier to watch and movie and see everything. In games there's a bazillion little branches and obscurities. (Of course, they also often hire fan-experts who point out any contradictions.) I do have to say that the ending of ReMI has possibly made me less enamoured with the series... or I guess I mean it's made me want to move on from it. As I said in another post, I'm starting to feel like a middle-aged man dressed in faux pirate attire sitting on a park bench. My two favourite things in the world (Twin Peaks and Monkey Island) got decades later follow-ups and conclusions. I think I'm a bit done with looking backwards. Maybe it's time to focus on finding new things to fall in love with...
  18. Actually the correct answer is boxers... which sort of makes the Special Editions canon πŸ€”
  19. Exasperation for discussing the minutiae of Monkey Island? We spent 160+ posts debating which game had the least amount of monkeys in it! Besides, for me that line was very fresh in my mind as I heard it on a playthrough the day before I played ReMI.
  20. πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole #191 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 4/6 πŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ’› πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  21. For those wanted to collect trivia cards: This is very useful information! I seem to recall that Jenn previously posted that it's 8 unanswered cards that prevent spawning. Unsure how long the timer is, and I assume they meant "they spawn after a real-time delay of NOT being in an area".
  22. Yeah, there's just a few things where I wonder: Did this come from not remembering, or not caring (as in, "this is only minor"). This seems like a big thing to forget, though, so it probably was intentional. Or they just loved the flip of "certain death" to "dowsed in root beer" too much.
