Grim Fandango Remastered physical editon by LRG
Lagomorph01 replied to Lagomorph01's topic in General Discussion
I've got a reply. At least Limited Run's customer service replies quite quick, I'll have to congratulate them for that. So their stance is that the artwork appears as intended, just like with the Full Throttle box. I send them a reply, saying that this can't be the case, because LucasArts themselves used a lighter, less contrast-rich design in their original release and multiple re-releases (thanks @Torbjörn Andersson for that argument), but I don't think they'll ever admit that it's a fault on their side. Well, at least I'll get a replacement mural and poster.- 10 replies

Grim Fandango Remastered physical editon by LRG

It's crazy that they'd make that same mistake twice! When you look at the box it's pretty clear that this is not the way it's supposed to look. I mean, Hector LeMans face is barely distinguishable on the cover. LRG's quality control is severely lacking, as showcased by several of their LucasArts editions. (The FT box, the order of the MI games on the box, the spelling and other errors in their MI book, the missing Loom versions). I'm still waiting for my ReMI boxed edition, but that's the last one I'll ever order from that company. All in all, everything I got is pretty lackluster so far (which is also caused by the long wait. Waiting one and a half year for something really deminishes the excitement). Has anyone got their copy yet? Is the Mural Print also missing from those copies, or is mine the only one? EDIT: I've contacted Limited Run about all three issues (the missing Mural Print, the ripped poster and the darkness of the reprinted material) and I'll keep you updated on their reaction.- 10 replies

Yes! Unfortunately it's not the "extended" soundtrack album that was released a couple of years ago, but the "regular" soundtrack that was released back then. (I haven't listened to it yet though.) It has 37 tracks: 01. Grim Fandango 02. Intro 03. On the Roof 04. Mr. Frustration Man 05. Brennis 06. Ledge Peckers 07. Domino's Office 08. Compañeros 09. Lost Souls Alliance 10. Casino Calavera 11. Swanky Maximino 12. Smooth Hector 13. She Sailed Away 14. Hi-Tone Fandango 15. High Roller 16. By the Lighthouse 17. Farewell Lola 18. Hector Steps Out 19. Gambling Glottis 20. Trouble with Carla 21. Blue Hector 22. Blue Casket Bop 23. Rubacava 24. Shanghai'd 25. The Lola Zapata 26. Sunken Lola 27. Miner's Room and Factory Hub 28. Lamancha Sub - Crushed 29. Temple Gate 30. Mayan Train Station 31. 9th Heaven 32. Nuevo Marrow 33. The Enlightened Florist 34. Meadow Flowers 35. ByeBye 36. Manny & Meche 37. Bone Wagon- 10 replies

Hi everyone! I got my physical release of Grim Fandango Remastered in the mail today, and I wanted to share the pictures with you. Here is the full set: (Unlucky for me, my poster arrived damaged. Notice the top left to middle, there are two small tears.) When I pre-ordered, I was most excited about the figurine that was announced, but... am I the only one who thought it'd be a lot BIGGER? (On the plus side, it drives! Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoaa!!) (Also the detail on Manny's face is... baffling...) It really shows that this is a re-release, scanned from the original files. One thing that's really noticable is the darkness of all the printed material. Here is a picture next to my original dutch release box: It really becomes apparant when you put the backsides of the boxes next to each other: A lot of detail is lost this way, which is a shame. It looks like they didn't really crosscheck the brightness/contrast with the original material. (EDIT: The new poster and cd-case look fine though!) Another funny thing I noticed (and I guess this is a credit for @Laserschwert's amazing work) is this little thank you on the back of the cd: All in all, a nice release, but it doesn't live up to the excitement I felt when pre-ordering. It's nice to have the game and soundtrack in physical form though! EDIT: I just double checked the product page, and apparantly the mural print is missing. I wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't have it.

This is fan-tas-tic!! He really made a board game-like construction out of it, and appearently it works really well! (Added nostalgia value: a friend of mine accidentally bought the German COMI version once, and for a long time it was the only voiced version of the game we had (next to the demo). I haven't heard these voices since we got our hands on the English version though, so it was fun hearing them once again!)

It's not like there's no LucasArts games that I haven't played yet, but Herc's Adventures I honestly never heard of before I saw it appear in this thread. Thanks for being thorough though, the art looks great! 🙂

LOOM Collector's Edition from Limited Run Games
Lagomorph01 replied to Udvarnoky's topic in General Discussion
I didn't order anything else when I ordered This Time It's Virtual. However I do have Grim Fandango and Return to Monkey Island pre-ordered as well. The order status still says "In Production" for all three of them. -
LOOM Collector's Edition from Limited Run Games
Lagomorph01 replied to Udvarnoky's topic in General Discussion
It's strange to me that something Limited Run announced a year ago is already being received, while Sam and Max This Time It's Virtual, ordered May 26th 2022, is still nowhere to be found. I've got 3 things in pre-order there, and still not a word about it. -
Wow! This is one was on my wishlist! Thank you so much, Laserschwert, it looks fantastic! So clear!

I think I know what feels off to me now. It's the acting. The voice isn't all that bad, although it's definitely no Harrison Ford, but the acting just isn't Indy. The way Indy talks in this trailer sounds more Nathan Drake-ish (or in this case, his brother from part 4) than Indiana-ish.
-
Kinda bummed about the fact that it's first person. I'm not really into first person games, and the whole thing with the whip looks a bit wonky. I'm not really getting an Indiana Jones vibe off this, I don't know if it's because of the first person action (although it doesn't help), or that something else feels off. Also, the casting choice of Troy Baker seems a bit uninspired, and after the Nazi at the beginning, Indy looks a bit 'wooden' in his facial animations. Based on the trailer, I don't think this game is for me.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered physical editon by LRG
Lagomorph01 replied to Sopabuena's topic in General Discussion
Now that I see it as a beanie, I finally realise that it's supposed to be a nose and a closed mouth underneath it. In the game, I always thought the pink part was an open mouth with teeth, as if it was screaming. I must've thought the lines underneath were a chin or something... Thank you, LRG. Anyway, I hope some of my pre-orders get shipped sometime soon too. I ordered the Sam and Max It's Virtual physical edition almost 2 years ago now. -
Yeah, I'm really glad I got a disc version too! (And with Dutch subtitles, which is a rarity for any Disney-disc these days!) I recently rewatched the movie and I still love it! It's not a perfect film, but I really like where they took the character and I still think the de-aging part is justified. Also it's a much better conclusion to a series of films than KotCS. On another note, I read something about the 'original' ending (which was abandoned in the writing phase and never filmed): Does anyone know if the original ending can be found somewhere for a good read?

Brilliant! I've never seen any of these before! You keep amazing me, Laserschwert!

Grim Fandango Live - 25th Anniversary Jazz Concert
Lagomorph01 replied to TimeGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I understand. It would be nice to get an MP3 version of this though. I just love how small and intimate it is. Reminds me of the album Nighthawks at the Diner by Tom Waits. -

Thanks for your reply! I look forward to the podcast versions, and I'll make sure to watch some parts of them on Youtube, so you'll get your views! It's the least you deserve for your fantastic, hard work! -

Hi Daniel, really enjoying your Steve Purcell interview! I listen to it in small chunks because my life doesn't really give me four hours to sit through in one take, but it is excellently conducted and really detailed. My compliments! Question: is there a way to listen to only the audio portions of your interviews, like a podcast? I like to listen to podcasts when I'm in the car and that way, I'd be able to enjoy a lot more of your interviews. I like that you show the artwork that you're talking about in the video's, but in my case, 9 out of 10 times I can already see the artwork in my mind, so that wouldn't be a difficulty. -
I've wanted the Max plushie ever since I first saw it, but alas, the shipping costs were too much for me... Now Uncute has given me two wanna-but-never-will-have's to gawk my eyes out at while pretending to work. Oh, life, you can be so cruel... cuddly but cruel*. *Come to think of it, Cuddly but Cruel is a great album title!

Hi everyone, I don't know if you've seen this, but appearantly Telltale games is still a thing! Did you know that? I thought they went belly up a couple of years ago. Anyway, there's some news reports that state that this undead company is dying all over again! Can anyone tell me if a LeChuck joke is appropriate or not? https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/10/telltale-games-confirms-layoffs-with-most-of-the-studio-reportedly-gone Anyway, sad news for the people involved. Let's hope the staff members that got layed off find some new jobs soon.

Isn't recording voice overs one of the last phases in making a game? I mean, if you've got the text, you're able to see where the story goes, and you can work from there. You'd want the actors to come in at the very last point, because after that you can't change any lines anymore (or else it'd be a pretty pricey change). -
Just finished the first one! I think it's a very funny pick up and play adventure game! It could've used a bit more polish though. The loading times (at least on Switch) are way too long for such a graphically simple game, and every time you load all your dialogue choices are reset. Even worse, every time you reset the game, the cursor speed goes back to default (read: way too slow). This wouldn't be a problem on Switch if it didn't start having frame hiccups after you put your console in sleep mode. Gameplay wise it could've used a bit more clearity on what you were supposed to do. I didn't have to resort to a walkthrough though, so it's not a very big deal. Having said that, the cases are smart and have a good length, the interactions (especially between Detective McQueen and Officer Dooley) are hilarious and it has some nice little winks to the ye olde LucasArts catalogue, without overly relying on it. I'm gonna let this sink in a bit and then come back for the sequel.
