  1. Thank you for this thread! I’ve been biting my pillows to shreds trying to get my ReMI kick, because I don’t want to go into the spoilery Return to Monkey Island thread.
  2. I love the little detail that if you get beaten by the first Rottwheeler 42 times in Full Throttle, Ben won’t wake up after the bike crash and you get to play the rest of the game as Maureen.
  3. I'm a switch gamer, baby! I spend each and every working day on my computer, so gaming is mostly a sofa deal for me. I played Thimbleweed Park on Switch too and it was a blast (played it mostly on handheld mode, because of the touch screen controls). If When it releases physically I'll be getting the PC version though, because I own every other Monkey Island game on PC. Edit: Just pre-ordered it, that horse armour is MINE!!
  4. Getting the Metal Detector from Carla would qualify as a dialogue puzzle! It’s also pretty hilarious!
  5. I'm not too keen on the dithering used in the Melee during the day video, looks a bit to Sierra-esque for my taste. Other than that it's feels strange, but still familiar to see Guybrush walk through those places during the day. I'm glad you can only do so at night in the game though, it makes the introduction to pirating more mysterious.
  6. Yeah, drop the funeral march and change the arrangement and it actually works better than the VGA CD version.
  7. It's actually really weird walking into the shipyard and getting greeted by the funeral march on organ!
  8. I've gone with the VGA CD version, because honestly it's the only version I ever played. (And the only version I own!) Because of the different opinions on this forum, I'm tempted to try the EGA version for my next playthrough, but until then VGA CD all the way! (It warms my heart that no-one has chosen the Special Edition for their favourite version yet.)
  9. Oh, man! All of a sudden I want Curse to start in LeChuck's ship with the old verb interface, with your first puzzle being the acquiring of the verb-coin, and the interface changing from that point on! That would've been a fun meta puzzle for fans of SMI and MI2. (Don't think it would land well with newcomers though.)
  10. Oh, my god! I never knew Stan's theme wasn't in the non CD versions of SMI!!! That's a hell of a change if I ever saw (or heard) one! I never cared much for Stan's theme in the CD version, but, looking at the scenes without music, I do kinda miss it in the EGA/Floppy VGA version. (Or is that somewhat of an unpopular opinion?)
  11. My vote goes to Gruff. The strong, silent type... and just look at his cute goatee!
  12. No, I never cared much for the 90's Star Wars games. I did play the Dark Forces demo a couple of times though. That was pretty fun. I do like the fact that they steered away from the Skywalker family, something Disney still hasn't really dared to do.
  13. I don’t like Star Wars either. Part 4, 5 and 6 are films from my youth, so I’ll gladly watch those with my kid when he gets old enough, and I can honestly say that I think Empire is a good movie. But everything that has been done with it since (to me) was just crap. I never liked the prequels, but I can honestly say that I prefer them to the horrendous sequels that Disney produced. At least George Lucas had a vision of where he wanted to take his franchise. Disney is just milking the cow dry, and the way they handled the sequels to such a beloved franchise is just outrageous! (Especially when you consider they literally promised George Lucas they’d produce his sequels when he sold them said cow, which they never did.) So in closure, even though I like 4, 5 and 6, and can even say one of them is a good movie, I can now say I like only a very small part of what Star Wars is, and that part is only getting smaller as more VOD crap is being produced. Thanks for this!
  14. I loved it, but not as much as Psychonauts 1. Part 1 just seems to flow more naturally, maybe because the classic themes of the summercamp and insane asylum are more easily defined for these kinds of levels. All and all they did some really interesting things with part 2, like the combining and corrupting of inner worlds, and it's definitely a worthy sequel in which a lot of love was poured. I particularly loved the Feast of the Senses (for the style) and Bob's Bottles (for the storytelling).
  15. Jake's probably got boxes full of those stashed in the attic somewhere. 😉
  16. I get what you're saying, and I think it's a VERY healthy way of looking at it! I've just been psyched about this from the beginning, so I'm pretty sure I've stopped following the news at the right time. Before the trailer I was pining for more information. Now, I feel like I have enough to keep me curious for the next couple of months. Because of social media, I feel entertainment industries have a tendency to overfeed their audience with information to stay relevant between all the other releases. That's why I choose to control the amount of information I'm getting. For example, I've heard they showed off one of the chapter screens, and I'm really glad I didn't see it yet! I want to save those for when I play the game! (So please keep all spoilers in the RtMI thread.)
  17. Don't know if this is an unpopular stance or not, but I stopped following the news (and the RtMI thread) shortly after the trailer hit. I don't want to know anything more about it before the game hits! (Except where I can order my boxed copy!)
  18. Not too thrilled about this release. I never liked the cover design, I've alway thought the characters (especially Laverne) seem a bit off. (The same can be said for the Full Throttle Remastered splash image.) The cd and USB stick are nice, but I'm not really feeling the rest of the collectables. All in all, I'd rather pay big bucks for an original boxed copy on Ebay.
  19. I wish they used Boens voice for Elaine throughout. In all seriousness though, I think the direction Ron had for the character (or at least her relationship with Guybrush) was way more interesting than what they ended up doing in the sequels. I hope he can make her interesting again.
  20. I just noticed that the shot of the skull flying out of the canon is not Murray. Maybe LeChuck is using the debris of his army from CMI as canon fodder now?
  21. I wouldn't put it past Ron to have a reason for them to have drifted apart in the years after TMI. If I remember right, they were pretty much a power couple in that game. But I can imagine Elaine feeling less fulfilled with the passing of 10+ years of Guybrush repeating his heroïc endeavours. Maybe they've drifted apart and have both gone on their seperate adventures, only to find each other again in the way Ron orginally envisioned? It might be able to work. Anyhow, I hope it's not too force fed into the story. The characters have evolved since MI2, even though it hasn't always been consistently. It'd be weird to just return to the way MI2 left them.
  22. I hope there will be, but I doubt it'll be through regular channels. LimitedRun will be the most likely party to release one! I'd really like a T-shirt that says: I ranted about the RtMI art style and all I got was this stupid T-Shirt.
