Above all else...it's a solid game, and well worth playing, IMHO.

Too bad they cancelled it here ... I wasn't too jazzed about it, but it looked to offer something a bit different from the rest of the Halo-ish games this fall. It would have been nice if they went to an online-only ordering ... then they wouldn't have to fight for stock and promotion ...

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty sucky review rating system. I mean, most other 5 star system I see at least give you 'half stars' along the way. :p

They claim they aren't going to 'wuss out' with half-stars. As many have said, it is the text and conclusions that are important, as they say much more than a generic number. But the move from a 100% (or 1-10 with a decimal) system to 10-base systems (1 to 10 or 5 star with halves) to a 5-base system necessarily stratifies games when looking at averages across many scores like at 'GameRankings', and will benefit the best of games but hurt those just slightly below there.

Anyway...I don't buy into the hype machines any more, and I've become increasingly wary of 'reviews' in general. Maybe I'm just becoming cynical in my old age. ;):p

I think it is a matter of confidence and independance, something I try to teach my kids - who cares what others think, do YOU like it? And reading reviews / previews can help, if you avoid the over-hype and try to discern if you'll like it ...

Halo's not a priority for me. I'll eventually get it if I like the demo (if there is a demo - and if not, I'll most likely wait even longer until the price drops). I agree that any game which is touted as having 'flaws' of any description shouldn't get top marks, and in my experience, all games have flaws.

But wait, remember that one game, it was perfect ...except for ... oh never mind ... but that other one, now that was perfect, but only lasted two hours and the difficult settings just made the game cheat, so I guess that wasn't perfect .. :D

I don't expect a perfect game ... heck, I just hope for a fun game - that is tough enough to find these days ...

i find it hard to get excited about Halo after this much time. Several PC FPSs have either already incorporated most of its features, or are about to better them.

Besides, if i want to run throguh hundreds of identical rooms i can always..... oh wait i don't. ;)

You've already gotten Halo? I thought it wasn't out yet ... or did it already hit stores ... oh wait, it is already the end of Sept ... never mind ;)

Well the multiplay stuff the mentioned is slightly true, Okay, the multiplayer part stinks in some ways (no bots) But you can improvise!

Like how the people at Rooster Teeth produtions did.

I'm a complete member and I think it's more than worth it. I get to watch exclusive videos and I get direct access to every demo, trailer, patch that is available. I like to play demos (if available) before I buy any game, and this way I have one site to go to for all my gaming needs, and as gaming is my main hobbie, I don't mind paying for a service that I think is great. I also think their reviews are very accurate as they don't buy into the hype like a lot of other site do. :)

Wow ... the game and patch arrive almost simultaneously ... great sign ...

And at least most reviews aren't as ... [i can't think of a proper way to put it] ... as GameSpy's. I still haven't decided if I'll get it, probably not since XIII will be out in 2 weeks, and I still have to finish JA and NWN:SoU.

Boy ... so many smaller games getting buried in the US - no Mace Griffin, no Dredd vs Death ... I wonder what else we'll lose. I guess THAT is the real price of the flood of 'big' games this fall ...
