Microsoft dumps Intel for next XBox

They've switched to IBM.

EDIT:

Realize that these are 2 of the biggest companies in the computer world. They both dominate their respective areas. They also had had a long standing relationship on very good terms. They always worked together to assure MS stuff ran well with Intel hardware. Now MS has turned it's back on Intel. This may not be pretty.

*hugs his Gamecube*

I've made an oath to never buy any console from Microsoft. Instead I'll get the consoles from Sony or Nintendo.

(I dont support Microsoft buying off most of the games intended for the PC and putting it on thier money-hole of a console)

Oh, and I have an AMD processor. So it's not like the resulting conflict between Microsoft and Intel will affect me much..:D

The Microsoft/ Intel thing has been stirring for a while. The 64-bit editions of it's future OSes are going to be based on code standards written by AMD. This must have killed Intel when it happened. Intel probably then made some ridiculously high bid on future chip contracts with MS to spite them,.. and Microsoft called thier bluff.

I'm witing on the 2nd gen Xbox to come out, so I can get a first edition one ultra-cheap! The games will probably get dirt cheap too.

First thing that comes to mind is splitting a single game into two seperate, full-priced cartridge. No I don't mean Pokémon, I'm talking about Golden Sun. Golden Sun 2 is not a sequel; it's the second part of the same game, the same storyline, much like Kill Bill volume 1 & 2 or Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions. That is, there's a "to be concluded" at the end.

Let's not even go into the last very questionnable business deals that Hiroshi Yamauchi has done before stepping down.

Boycotting is useless. It simpossible to organize a boycott that is large enough to be a concern for any of the three big names. What we should simply do is instead of NOT supporting some name for a certain reason, we should support the company that, in your opinion, has the best games for its console. We need to encourage good games, no matter on which console it's on.

For example, I think the PS2 is one ugly mess of computer hardware thrown together in a black plastic casing, but I'm not blind to the fact that it's got some great games on the system. I don't like Sony either; in fact they're the ones I hate the most. Nevertheless, I do play a lot of PS2 games because I enjoy them (I'm currently into Dynasty Warriors 4 - awesome game).

Except I'm not too thrilled to buy a console that's three times worse as mine, just to play a few games. KoToR is coming to the PC soon, though. Luckily.

Besides, supporting the X-box games would mean that Microsoft will suck more titles from the PC. Which is what I'm mainly talking about, the fact that microsoft is taking the good games from the PC and putting it on the x-box.

Also Nintendo's practices have been FAR too protective and not enough progressive. Admit it, they've fallen behind. They made the "Gamers platform" and didn't include DVDs because they were suposed to have the best games. Well they don't. Their sports games are attrocious (Those controlers simply weren't made for football at all) and most of their games' graphics are sub-par when compared to the X-Box, yet X-Box has DVD support, harddrive, and built in networking. Also they drove off some of their top co-operative companies in Rare. I'm just sad that the X-Box doesn't have the selection of PS2 or else there wouldn't be any doubt in my mind on which to side with. But I'm content with my PC/PS2 combo. (yes, D-Warriors 4 is a kick a** game. I love the ROTK series...mucho cools)
