I wen to best buy with my mom the other day, and went to check out the computers. I immediatly noticed the one with a window on the side and lighting inside. I was looking at it, and it was only $999, and the package(with moniter, speakers, and printer) was only $1,199(I think). It had JA on it, so I went to test it out. I was playing it and thought it looked 500X better than on my moms comp. Well, I checked the settings, they were MAXED OUT. This was the look on my face...

:eyeraise:

also see 0_0

Well, I was showin it to me mum, and she said that maybe I could get it after we get our income tax return.

Check it out

All I can say is, I am so friggin happy :D

But then again, my parents words are vvery unreliable when it comes to things like this. But I can still dream and hope cant I?

Who needs a good computer? Lag is your friend..'thanks to lag i live 3 seconds longer :)'

anyways seems a nice compy and I can imagine why you're so happy, the change from mp pentium 2 to this p4 was almost as delighting as when we switched from 56k to dsl..the joy the joy

sure you can hope and pray everyday; eventually you'll forgot about it ;)

o.O

It looks like a good deal, although personally I'd just buy my own parts. Lemme pull up Pricewatch..

64-bit 3200+ @ 400FSB- $182

ECA 755-A SiS755/SiS964 -$81

PC4200 DDR 512megs- $88

Ati 9800 Pro- $199(NOT SE version, SE version bad. Get only the regular 9800 Pro version)

Serial Ata 160 Gig- $106

Total- $605

That's not including a fancy case and power supply, and a sound card. That would total it up to around $750. But the 9800 Pro is much faster than the 9600 Pro, so you're getting better stuff for less.

Of course, if you dont want to buy from different stores, you could go to Newegg.com. Thier stuff is a tad bit more expensive, but should still be less expensive than the E-machine.

Have a look at what I found - then check out your "deal" (all prices USD).

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1.6GHz 64Bit Processor 1MB Cache $264.81

Motherboard K8NHA Pro Nforce 3 Chipset DDR400 1AGP 8X 5PCI 1CNR ATA133 Audio GB-LAN ATX $107.00

ATX 400W Power Supply Tower ATX Aluminum Case $28.98

512MB PC4000 500Mhz DDR RAM CAS 2.5 w/ Free Copper Heat Spreader $76.00

Hard drive 60.0GB EIDE 7200 RPM 2MB 8.9ms OEM $47

Internal EIDE/ATAPI DVD-ROM Drive $22

ATI RADEON 9800 XT ATLANTIS 256MB DDR AGP8X TVO/DVI (OEM) $407

54x32x54x - Internal EIDE/ATAPI CD-RW Drive $29.80

Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 Platinum PCI Internal Sound Card and Front Panel I/O Drive $149

Windows XP pro Professional Full version OEM $130

nice speakers around $50

Total: $1311.59

Total minus Audigy and expensive speakers: $1112.59

Convince your parents to give you another $200/$300 to spend on it or use your own money (you could get rid of the audigy too - the MB has onboard audio). It'll be worth it for a rig like that!

Nah, but if you find some new hardware that you like, you can just buy it and install it instead of having to buy an entirely new computer(and suprisingly, overclocking CAN be pretty fun if you play it safe. )

Wanna see my current system specs?

Compaq Presario 5050:

This auction is for a Compaq Presario 5050 desktop computer. It comes with the on-board lithium battery, A 3D Rage Pro video chip and an ESS audio chip. It has an Intel Celeron 333Mhz processor and 128MB SDRAM. It has the floppy drive and a 40X speed CD ROM. It also comes equiped with a Quantum Bigfoot TX 8.0 GB hard drive that has been partitioned with the FAT32 system and has been formatted. Quite a nice machine!!

The only way I play JA is on my moms.but it PALES in comparison to the one I may build. Lets see...

AMD XP 2200+

256 DDR

60 Gig HD

Integrated Prosavage S3

Win XP

DVD/CD-RW combo

decent screen

Exactly. Now looky at what I want to build...

AMD 64 3200+

WinXP(may try out Linux ¬_¬ )

ATI Radeon 9800

160-200GB HD

512-1gig DDR

DVD/CD-RW drive

floppy

yeah. It depends on how much I can get, and how cheap everything is, but this all would be good for me.

If you're talking about cards slower than the 9800 XT not being able to play HL2, then BZZZZZZZZZZZT, you're quite wrong :) .... They've openly stated multiple times that it will be quite playable on older cards.... The source engine, though pretty and shiny, isnt that needy in terms of graphics requirements.

The Doom 3 engine is the system killer. That's what youll need the beast for.
