sorry Mike, I got my crappy horror movies mixed up, The one I am referring to is "Revenge of the Creature" (1955), it was Clint's debut, he played a lab technician !

Well, from the list, I've got to say that Star Trek is the "geekiest".

That being said, geekdom is cool so far as I'm concerned. Those guys love Star Trek as much as I love Star Wars - how can I slag that off?

It also shows a commitment and dedication that a lot of people seem afraid of displaying these days, with the exception of sports-team followers. I'm unashamedly a SW geek and I don't care who knows it. Yeah I'll sit in the pub and quote things in Huttese :p

I don't see it as being anywhere near as bad as the guy in the Arsenal shirt at the next table working himself up to a heart-attack of impotent rage as his team get their butts handed to them by Chelsea. Last night. :xp: I didn't get that worked up in the cinema when Darth Maul got whupped, so why am I a geek?

Hmmm, like all of that stuff except trek. Maybe you should add a poll option. "I like 'em ALL!" B5, Star Wars, LoTR, The Matrix, all are awesome!

hey I love all of them too !! .... but the poll is asking for which you think is the geekiest ?!

Star Trek is the geekiest; Matrix is really the least geekiest at this point but it's getting there really quick. And sorry, Astro, but being a SW freak the way we are is geeky. Not bad, but very geeky.

Of course, I'm in the "have been a LOTR fan since finished the series just before he turned 8" club, and I loved the movies. Of course, I'm really scary. How many other people know that the only people who weren't happy in the year 1421 of the Shire Reckoning were those who had to mow the grass, for everything else was so great. (Especially the ale, as an old gaffer a generation later might sit back after an especially hard-earned ale, sigh, and say "Aye, that was a proper 1421.") Not quite a direct quote, but close... scary, eh? And I haven't actually read the books in about a year... Now that's geeky...

Hi Keralys, I often peer in at tolkienforums.com, and get quite scared when ppl post in elvish, talking about the most intricate details of Silmarillion....

yes. I'll say it ! I am a SW geek..... the most publicly accepted geekiness of all... too many ppl love the movies, so that when I say "yeah I love SW" the repsonse is "yeah theyre great movies!!" (I subsequently refrain from telling them about Thrawn, how Mara Jade married Luke, how Chewie and anakin(solo) are dead, and there is no light or dark side of the force :D )

yeah, even I'm not nearly as scary as the people who actually speak Elvish. Of course, half of them think they do and are really babbling odd combinations of the Quenya and Sindarin, with a little of the Westron thrown in. Morons...

I too try to avoid mentioning some of the more obscure details of SW literature; people get really freaked out when I do. Especially when I start going at points about Jacen or something... yeah.

LOTR: Talk like elves, act like Legolas, get all of the collectables.

Star Wars (wOOt!): Pretend play light sabers, brag about the Star Wars universe, talk about games.

Star Trek: Stupid alien hand signs, stupid collectables, total dorks.

D&D: Anti-social, anoying, and totally absorbed into the games, but the video games are cool.

Matrix: Act like Neo, talk like Neo, walk like Neo, pretend fight and break arm like Neo :p

Least Geeky

#5: Matrix

#4: Star Wars

#3: LOTR

#2: D&D

#1: Star Trek

Most Geeky

:D

Gee, I feel like some kind of super-geek now:

I enjoy all of the SW movies & play predominantly SW computer games.

I enjoy all of the ST movies & all of the TV series except DS9 (and watch the reruns often). I also play Starfleet Academy & Elite Force from time to time.

I enjoy Babylon 5 (and I'd still watch it if I had cable).

I enjoyed the first Matrix movie (but I don't own it, and probably never will because I really really really didn't like the other two).

I read the LOTR books many, many times before the movies came out, and then I watched the movies (I was a LOTR geek before the movies!!)

But then, I don't think I'm all that much of a geek...I've never been to a convention, never dressed up as a character from any show......I just like watching them (and playing the games in the case of SW and ST, or reading the LOTR books).

And I only hang around here to waste time at work......

As far as the poll goes, though, I gotta say that ST is the geekiest...sometimes I just have to laugh when they make up some new mineral or some kind of gadget that they just happen to have lying around engineering that they've never mentioned before and never do again...but it came in handy that one time, so it must've been worth the money.....oh, that's right, they don't use money in the 24th century...my mistake.

Star Trek does have at least three redeeming factors, though (that I can think of off the top of my head):

Spock and his "colorful metaphors" in Star Trek:4

Fighting the Borg in First Contact

The entire Nemesis movie (minus the marriage bit)....even though the theta radiation thing made me laugh.
