Myst games

Myst is a game that provides a non-violent environment and hours of mystery and fun. They are based more around the storyline than game play. These games are suitable for anyone of any age (all of them are rated E.). The main theme is good Vs. evil. They have the best graphics to date(I’m not kidding.). I would recommend this game to anyone especially JO fans. There are links below. If you have any questions ask the people on the forums. They will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Note: Myst I-IV are in first person. Uru is third person and have a very different feel.

I still have my original Myst for the Mac (which, after all, is what it was developed for) which I got for Christmas when it came out (along with the Journeyman Project).

That was 1994.

It was entertaining, but it was 1994.

You know, 1994?

Wolf 3D.

Doom.

Yep. That 1994 ;)

Haven't checked out Myst yet, probably will sometime...

Nothing!! I'm doing this as a fan because I think everyone should play these games because there more fun than most people think they are. Yet they are challenging which makes the ending fo the game rewarding because you had to think a lot to get there and you just didnt blow down everything in the way.

The first one was lots of fun, and was so visually stunning in the Doom-filled world of 1994 that it is hard to remember the impact. By its' own strength it sold millions of copies ... and millions of CD-ROM drives.

I've not even played any of the sequels, but I know they didn't review as well. I'm going to try the Uru demo (have it on a magazine disk on my desk) and see what I think.

I've played all myst except for URU. The next Myst (Myst 4 I believe) is coming out. They've been working on it for a while, it's going to be 1st person like the other classics, made by Cyan. I heard something happened with Atrus's duaghter and you might meet the 2 sons again.

What do you think now???

Beh, sure it looks good, but that's because it's not animated. Meh, I played the first Myst and was underwhelmed. I haven't picked up another one.

Furthermore, those pictures are very pretty, but they're overwhelmingly fake looking. Everything from the books to the plants to the whatever else is very artistic and unrealistic.

Well 1 They want to catch a "Not of this world" atmosphere. 2 If you want photo realistic, I don't think there anywhere on this planet that look "not of this world". Some scence are animated really and they look the same as the still. I've always loved the look Myst had to it. I always will and 3 Name another game that look perfect hmmm?

I dunno texturing looks ok to me..but then I dont judge a game on the texturing.

they have made some impressive improvements with the new chapter in the series.

as for you being underwhelmed...I'd suggest checking out Riven..cant say Ive seen a 2d player thats graphics can match it for realism.

*takes out rubber band guns, steals T's shirt and various undergarments and fires*

BTW: I'm not saying a game is perfect I'm just saying the environments look a bit too cartoonish for my taste.

1. Lists are easier to read if you actually put all your points on separate lines.

2. I didn't say I wanted photo realistic, I said that all their things look fake, including the books which probably aren't supposed to be space age cartoon lookin books.

3. I can have my own opinions on what video games I choose to enjoy and which ones I choose to shun.

4. Even if Myst DID look perfect I still wouldn't like it. So the graphics don't matter.

I didn't read much above, but why wouldn't you like Myst? Are you one of the persons who's gotta kill something to be happy? :p No offense meant, but I can't imagine why someone wouldn't like Myst :D

Thats the problem with most people today. They want to have some sort of weapon an something to kill with it. People would rather play a money sucking, time wasting RPG for 8 hours non stop and get nowhere, then play a game you could save anytime, hear a great story, and put the mind to work. Basically the problem is alot of people want an action game rather then a good old fashion puzzle solving. I'll admit that I have more action games then I do solving, but I get the most enjoyment out of a solving game. Because it's based on common sense and rational thinking. Not how much life or ammo you have left. The game is always fun to play through. Alternate endings, playing for speed. It's never boring.

I'm just fine not killing things. I have many a puzzle game and I enjoy them immensely.

I'll bet somtimes it's hard for you to reach all the way down to your keyboard, what with you being up on that high horse

My God, there is a PROBLEM with people because our personal choice in video games does not coincide with yours? Where exactly does it state that a person without problems must enjoy puzzle video games? Furthermore, you can save the majority of RPGs anytime, they almost ALWAYS have a great story, and they DO put your mind to work, because you typically have to solve puzzles, AND figure out how to use your entire party to collectively beat the bad guys.
