Sivy Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 dear me, some people in this thread need to grow up. the guy posts his views on an up and coming computer game, and you guys act like he just called your mothers fat or something. if you don't agree with something then post your opinion on the subject, don’t resort to flaming. I think hype can be damaging too, more often than not when something is built up too much then the end result is likely to be an anti-climax. battlefront looks good and like a lot of fun. will it be great? will just have to wait and see.

Again I didn't flame him for his opinions, it was because he laughed on my typo

Ummm... You have nothing better than that to post? Dear me, you must be French. Hey, Storm, you mentioned flaming as a result of not being able to debate. What if you logically debate the issue, and then flame for spite?

Schetter Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 tFighter, we were already over this a LONG time ago. The only thing you 'contributed' to this thread is the commonly known fact that Pandemic is working on this game - which was pretty irrelevant and trivial given what the debate was about. Simply because I used LucasArts instead of Pandemic, you labeled my post 'crap' and then offered no other arguement. So just get over it...water under the bridge.

I didn't label your post crap, that's what you're doing. My question was, do you really believe that LucasArts will put pressure on Pandemic Studios to make a bad game?

SITH_ShadowCat Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 StormHammer brings across an EXCELLENT point, something that I tried to explain in my post but just wasn't there. I guess it takes a smarter man to accomplish smarter things. But when I saw things about "the company holding back to keep up sale" I was just flipping my lid. I hope StormHammer and VanLingo explained what was the main problem of this whole topic, Schetter. I think that you just afraid to be disappointed, and afraid that this game will gain awful reviews and press. We all feel that way, not one person here doesn't. We are all hoping for an "ultimate Star Wars" experience, even if we know it'll never be there. I think its OK to hope for the better, but we must also assume the worst. I myself have great faith in this game and am sure that I'll enjoy it, but in no means do I pray that this game is going to be nirvana to the gaming world.
GorillaPaws Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 What if you logically debate the issue, and then flame for spite? [/b] Flaming just creates a negative/hostile atmosphere that (a) gets nothing accomplished and (b) scares potential new members away. Think about all the people who view this forum and are considering asking questions/make comments that they may feel is stupid but decide not to because they are nervous about being attacked. People shouldn't have to be fearful about posting, that's not what this is about. Yes, sometimes people do make idiotic statements, but your best course of action is to objectively point out why they're wrong, and not bring personal attacks into it (even though it sometimes seems tempting).
StormHammer Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Originally posted by VanLingo Hey, Storm, you mentioned flaming as a result of not being able to debate. What if you logically debate the issue, and then flame for spite? [rap] A flame is a flame And you'll get the blame Don't do it for shame Or you'll just look lame. If you don' understan' Then I'm tellin' yo man If you flame these boards You're in line for a ban. [/rap] Message ends...
fuzzyfreaker Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 It'll be a fun game. That's all. We don't need a discussion on making money off the SW Franchise. Ok? Great. Thank you and have a nice day.
Mountainforest Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Well, I think this is the best thread posted here in weeks. There hasn't been such a discussion here for a long time. I think we should thank schetter, at least I do, because the core of what he said was right. Have to high expectations, and the game will disapoint you. That's a rule with every game, even "the best star wars game ever."
Sivy Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Originally posted by VanLingo Ummm... You have nothing better than that to post? Dear me, you must be French. lol, proved my point quite nicely there didn't you
tFighterPilot Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Look around this forum, at other threads, they are all nice and civil I should be a mod . Then this guy comes and turns this place into something else. The fact is that there weren't any flaming in this forum before I should be a mod , and I should know I should be a mod , I've seen each and every one of the threads in this forum I should be a mod

VanLingo Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Originally posted by Siv lol, proved my point quite nicely there didn't you You didn't have a point. That was a suck-up-to-the-mods post. It just sounded to me like you didn't want to pick a side -- reminiscent of France's military views in the UN.
Ewok Homie Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 You guys need to chill he just said that this wont be the ultimate star wars game just a good one. And i have to admit that there have been many speculations that ties will be in hoth and there will be space battles but whats wrong with having some fun? Either way i think this is going to be a good game its been proven by all the reviews so far.

Alegis Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 I only read the first posts but... its true about games beeing hyped and then big dissapointment, but as stated, the dissapointment were features LEC promised, and not those they assumed there would be in the game without LEC confirming them Its normal to anticpate things for a game, but here on these boards i odnt htink we're overacdting. Its morfe like little stuff like micro, map size etc, not about "what if the AI uses super cool tactics to pwn any public team"
VanLingo Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 Originally posted by tFighterPilot There is on problem with your theory, Siv is a mod No, he's not. He just has a ton of posts.
Sivy Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Originally posted by VanLingo It just sounded to me like you didn't want to pick a side -- reminiscent of France's military views in the UN. i picked a side, it was the 'against jumping down a newb's throat just because they said battlefront wont be the best star wars game ever' side and my point was made pretty clear by the first line of my original post... some people in this thread need to grow up

Schetter Posted June 2, 2004 Author Posted June 2, 2004 Oh I see...I should just sit there and take it.
