MennoniteHobbit
I read the name of this thread and though "who doesn't?" Microsoft isn't that bad. And just because Linux and Mac doesn't get the main viruses, trojans, and worms doesn't mean they're better OS's... it's just because hackers don't care much about those OS's to want to infect them. My computer and Macintosh never crash under normal circumstances. Only my internet- but hey, that's dial up! Really, I don't have a problem with any OS has long as good software is compatible with it, it never crashes enough to annoy me, and is easy and quick to use/manipulate, like Windows, since it's a GUI. manoman81
I know this thread is old, but my word docs load up slow too. I haven't been able to figure out why for sure. I think it does have to do with Norton though. Everytime I load a doc file, it gets scanned for viruses. As for the right click thing, don't use IE. Use anything else but Netscape. I use MYIE2 and it works just fine. Others will say Opera and many other programs that work too.
Joetheeskimo
OMG! Why is it that in EVERY comptuer problem thread, there's 1. Someone blaming Microsoft when the real problem is his fault 2. Someone saying "reformet your drive!" For God's sake, a tiny problem doesn't require you to lose all your freaking data! Ahem. *Calms self* Check for spyware with Spybot or Adaware. Check for viruses. Also, defragging by itself is pointless. Delete as many old games and files you don't need, THEN do a disk cleanup, THEN do a defrag. Defrags are only useful to close the holes of the old deleted files. After that, your comp should run considerably faster.

I did all this on my older computer and it helped heaps, however, backing up lots of liittle thinsg and docs/pics that just *sit* there nd doing a reformat helped considerably.... *pats Siv on back for his help back then* mtfwbya

Anyhow this problem appears to have resolved itself for the time being... typical...lol
Sabretooth
Oops! Late suggestion, but anyways- Reinstall Windows if ANY problem occurs. Strangely, it does the job. P.S.
