No. I mean half life 2.

Its already outdated, if you look at the graphics, its not really what its cut out to be, and if you look at the actual gameplay, just walking around and killing crab heads, it doesn't look too revolutionary, just looks like the usual game.

It's still a really big step up tho, with the physics system and some graphics updates. Just not enough for me to buy it.

Oh i see.

Whenever i look at the HL2 videos or screens, it just makes me want it more and more. Well thats just my opinion.

Really? Is there any screenshot of it?

EDIT: Now are you telling me that this isnt Dlights?

Yes, I am. The only actualy "dynamic" lighting is from the playermodel, which is old technology - even used in JA. the rest of the flashlight effect is vertex-lit, and NOT lightmapped (=dynamically lit).

Uh...tell me then, what exactly does have better graphics? Doom 3's about the same quality, but then again S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks REALLY good.

pft, HL2 doesn't even have DLighting..

Er, yes it does. It's called HDR lighting, or High Dynamic Range. I've seen a video of it, it looks cool. Lemme see if I can find it...

Edit- Found it.

Tell me if that doesn't just rock. (I got it at Planet Half-life, so that's why it links to Fileplanet..)

That's old technology, and it's implemented in a lot of games already - GTA:VC in example. Dynamic lighting is when a shadow is cast on a surface, relative to the lightsource and object casting the shadows - all calculated in-game.

Indeed, the HL2 graphics have been beaten by games like Far-Cry and upcoming games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Doom 3 and maybe F.E.A.R., but you have to admit that HL2 still looks amazing, the lighting is awesome, the psychics and the DX9 effects look amazing. Sith, where did you read or hear this? I haven't seen anything like that >_> ok maybe I have but my mind right now is distracted.

That is using Dynamic lightings, no? It's HDR, which means it's used in Half-life 2.

Tell me what the difference is between Dynamic lighting and HDR, though. I thought HDR included Dynamic lighting..

Far-Cry

Mmm, I didn't think Far-cry was too hot on the graphics. The enemies looked like plastic and the environment looked like crap(trees became way too blurry the farther away they were, and no game should have trees that pop up in the backround)

I've seen screenshots of it, and I'm playing it right now on a 9800 Pro. Again, it looks good, but it definitely has some faults. The screenshots look a whole better than it is in-game though..

Although, I'm sure my opinion would change if you gave me a X800 XT PE...*wink wink*

:p
