Where you get your saber (spoilers)

I don't know whether people really want to know this or not, but I think I know where you get your saber.

Everyone knows that you don't have a lightsaber on Peragus, but you do have one on Onderon. We know that the Harbringer is the next area after Peragus (Because it's docked there) and in a trailer for TSL (on the Harbringer) it shows a computer pannel and one the options on it mentions something about "setting a course for Onderon"

Since you have your saber on Onderon (look at any Onderon screenshots) and not on Peragus, it's logical it would be on the Harbringer. In some screenshots for the Harbringer it shows your character fighting Darth Sion (with a lightsaber, of course) but in the trailer which shows the Harbringer, it seams that you don't have your saber for some of that area.

Once again, it is logical for your saber to be found (or built) on the Harbringer. :saberb::saberr::saberg::dsaber:

Nice theory, and quite possible from what OE has hinted at, let me explain...

Supposedly we aren't just going to waive our hands and "poof!" we will get our saber like in KOTOR, we will have a quest to get our saber, most likely in 4 parts, I have gathered this from the announcement of the new lens, emitter, and power cell components for lightsabers plus we will need our central color crystal, hence where I got 4 parts, so we will get at least 3 of the crystal and the saber parts as we progress through Peragus II.

So your theory definately is possible if the Harbringer contains the last component of our saber, some time early on in the ship... this also means the Harbringer will be measureably bigger than the Endar Spire was in KOTOR. :D

I didn't even raised my hands to get the lightsaber in K1!

That would be cool :) and it makes sense as well!

this sounds promising

i read in one of the sw books that the jedi prefer naturaly grown crystals for their lightsabres, this is risky as the crystals may have impurities or may be the wrong shape to fit your lightsabre if the match is wrong it is possible for the lightsabre to blow up in your face and kill you, this made a kind of sense to me as it is considered a test for a jedi to build there lightsabre, so you can imagine my dissapointment when in kotor you just asked for your crystal and got it, sure you could get crystals from the cave on dantooine but it wasnt part of your trials or tests.

the sith however do not like to leave anything to chance they manufacture their crystals. what they do is they gather the crystals and put them in a furnace and they focus all there hatred on the crystals and burn out all the impurities and mold the crystals into the perfect shape needed for their lightsabre, this can be a long process but ultimately rewarding for the sith.

The sith consider their lightsabres to be more powerfull than that of the jedi

p.s. Emperor Devan as much as i like your theory i do believe you should have used a spoiler tag for anyone who didn't know, and with tsl coming closer and closer spoiler tags should be used as i know that the mods will be fairly harsh with those that dont

I remember in KotOR 1 I had too many sabers, and had to start finding ways to rid myself of them!:p I'm glad OE has fixed this "problem", though I'm not sure how the entire Saber Quest will affect we dual saber users.

We will likely be getting sabers off of fallen opponents, probably starting after the first planet/place we are in the game after we build our first saber ourselves and start facing opponents with sabers, and just like in KOTOR the saber finding will likely be the similar. :D

In RPG's you should be rewarded with the items your opponent had when you defeat them, it is part of the rewards of beating them, aside from expirience points.

It says we will have a quest for our saber and likely get to build one, and likey we will find more parts and whole sabers fairly quickly afterward...

KOTOR Example: We leave the Jedi Enclave and you can go out and quickly defeat Sherruk the Mandalorian Leader he has two Lightsabers on him so you can quickly go double wielding rather fast... with the workbench improvements for TSL i'll wager we can break down found sabers, like all other items, and make new ones in the styles we like with the components... :)

So the more sabers we find this is a good thing. :D

Does anyone know yet if there are going to be unique sabers for each character? I think that is one of the coolest things that distinguishes Jedi from each other and gives them their own style. The one thing I really hated about KotOR 1 was that you could just pick up any ol' saber and start using it as well as you would use your own. I suppose a good Jedi would probably be able to do this anyway (like obi-wan and anakin did in AOTC), but it would be cool if the player had some added incentive to using sabers that he/she constructs him/herself (not to mention that it would be nice to distinguish those from the ones you pick off the dead by some means other than crystal configuration).

A. No, I don't think so. I suppose the Sith Lords might have unique sabers, but as for everyone else I don't think so.

B. I totally agree. It was always cool for me to see what a certan jedi's saber looked like/ what color it was.

C. I also agree. It was annoying that all the saber types looked EXACTLY the same, save malak's. Luckily, perhapse with the new modding tool out we can change that.;)

I never said you would get your saber instantly. I was telling people WHERE you get your saber, not HOW.

Hey D333, nice avatar. Are you keeping it till january?

I suggest you re-read what I posted, as I never said that you would get a saber instantly either.

 But... but... I was simply adding on to what you had theorized???

:eyeraise: Hmm... note for the future never support Emperor Devon's theories again.

I'm sorry, I misread what your posted. I don't mind people adding on to my theories.

Hi, remember me? No?! Ah, well... I was thinking that the sabres you get from fallen enemies are damaged in some way making them inoperable. I think I can safely add on to Devon's and RedHawke's theory when I say that. A damaged Saber may not be used, but can still be broken down for vital parts. As far as custom sabers, I heard that there's like 6 million sabre combinations... That will get pretty custom, no? I'm not talking appearance, though.

If one needed to have a high blaster deflection, could you have a wider blade? A LENSE could do the trick. A wider blade could also do more damage but be more sluggish.

If one needed to block or obsorb high amounts of energy/electricity, you'd need a heavy duty POWER CELL to endure surges and not blow out. (Ohh!! What if you could break your own sabre?! Cool, but unlikely...)

An ENERGY EMITTER could Broaden a blade making sabre locks end in your favor more often (or even make you harder to block?)

Millions of possabilities... I wanna thank Master Gates for making the Death Box... Erm... X-Box so I can play it on tuesday night...:)

I remember you UrchSr! :D

And I agree with what you are saying about the sabers... except the end of your post;

The moderators have asked that the whole XBox Vs. PC thing be dropped... as not everyone will be playing it until Febuary... this touches on that subject.

As to personalized lightsabers, the ones you find on dead foes (or allies... ahem) can probably be broken down into component parts (though all will not likely survive) and used to make new sabers or improve your own. I believe this was mentioned as a new feature for regular items, why not sabers?
