Ministry Music Recommendation?

All of those that Grooves mentioned are Ministry classics. Basically I've liked everything since the album "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste". Some of it more than others though. If I could only pick one song by Grampa Jourgensen to hear ever again though, it would be Scarecrow. That song sounds post apocolyptic...or something. One time my wife and I (waay back before we married and we were young and didn't know better) were driving on dirt roads in the summer, and we were...doing things...smoking things...and we were listening to Psalm 69. Scarecrow comes on, and my wife says to me "Can we please turn this off? It's kinda freaking me out. This is too much like Mad Max." It was hillarious. Guess you had to be there.

[EDIT] If the Ministry stuff strikes your fancy, and you take a liking to that sort of music, I suggest trying a little American Head Charge. Good stuff.

If good ol' Mike can tollerate coming here and reading the likes of things that you and I type, he can certainly withstand the awesome power of American Head Charge. Although knowing what he listens to, I'd come more suggesting Dillenger Escape Plan to him. I know for a fact he likes jazz. And Dillenger is a great hybrid of fierce metal and zany-ass jazz.

He he!!! :D

.... arrrgh .... crash ....

Anyway, given that much of my taste in jazz is quite out there (atonal, arhythmic, scares the pets, that kind of thing) ... I asked my wife (who has been into Nickelback and that type of stuff lately) to listen to whatever song is playing at the Last Round, and she thought it was not bad, pretty tame compared to John Zorn's crazy sax stuff ... ;)

BTW - thanks to all! I saw the 'Greatest Fits' on iTunes, might just grab it.

I knew we weren't that different. I loves me some Zorn. Although if not for Mike Patton (who colaborates with Dillenger Escape Plan) I probably wouldn't know who he is.

Indeed....I'd place "Zorn" as an anime villain before I figured he was a musician :(

You know Mike Patton was a HUGE influence on me as a vocalist? Right up there with David Bowie. I had the rare pleasure to see Faith No More on the Angel Dust tour. After that concert I KNEW that Faith No More was not just another MTV flavor of the month band!

Then you'll be dissapointed to learn that yesterday Mike Patton, in an interview with Rolling Stone (if I remember right) officially said that Mr. Bungle is no longer a band. I figured that a couple years ago all by myself, but to hear it straight from the horses mouth...Not a good week for me and the music I like.

[EDIT] BTW, Mike Patton is bar none, my favorite vocalist ever.

[ANOTHER EDIT] IMHO, Angel Dust is one of the most underrated albums ever made. Well, for that matter FNM never really got the props they deserved. Epic, the song that simultaniously put them on the map, and took them off of it was one of the worst songs they ever made. With a huge library of great material, it's a shame that they never got any more status than a cult following, and a one hit wonder. But then again, if everyone and their dog got into them, who knows? Maybe I wouldn't have gotten into them. Popular music tends to have that effect on me.

[TRIPLE EDIT] Jeez, between typos, and entire sentences somehow being left out of my post, I'm going to break a record for edits to a post.

Belive it or not, it does not upset me that much, I always felt that Mr. Bungle was too sophmoric. Mike has grown up, and he is already in about a hundred bands, that surpass Mr. Bungle anyways. It would be ACE if FNM got back together someday, unlike Pantera, at least none of the core members are dead yet.

Edit: BTW Angel Dust is one of the best albums ever made ever, by anybody! Doubt FNM could ever put out anything as good as THAT ever again.... EVEN if they DID get back together...

I'm guessing you never heard much of their stuff outside of the self titled Warner Bros debut. The two albums that followed it (Disco Volante, and California) were much more mature, and certainly more versatile in terms of breaching different musical styles and genres than anything Patton has done before or since.

Wrong. I HAVE heard those, and have ALL of it on my hard drive. I just personally feel that Phantomas and Lovage was better, I guess it is just me.

FNM was garbage until they brought Patton on board. You know it, and I know it. And he stuck it out alot longer than I thought he would.

I stand corrected then. Like you pointed out though, it's opinion. I know Pattons lyrics matured at least. As for Fantomas and Lovage, those are both great projects. I just got Millenium Monsterworks a couple months back while one vacation. You gotta love anything that pits The Melvins, Slayer, Mr. Bungle, and Mike Patton together. The Directors Cut was great. The only thing I didn't really like about Lovage was that chick. Female vocalists irritate me for some reason. I can't take 'em serious. Tomahawk is another great Mike Patton project. Ever listen to any of that, or Adult Themes For Voice? ATFV is really and truely only meant for people who are TRUE HARDCORE MIKE PATTON FANS. I think one of the tracks is just him eating crackers or some ****. It's crazy. Imagine the first Fantomas album, minus any instruments. Quality stuff.

Nice to know that The One and I aren't the only Patton fanatics onboard. BTW, need a music writer over at the manipulation? :D

[FFS, YEAH ANOTHER EDIT  ]

Yeah, FNM was not what I would call one of my favorite bands in their Chuck Mosely days, before Patton. But I have fond memorys of being a youngster and listening to them before Patton. Not so much because of Mosely, because he pretty much sucked. But they had a few memorable songs. Annes Song, The Crab Song, etc...

Wow ... this thread took a life of its' own ...

Anyway, it ends up that the music from the game - including full MP3's of all songs used - are in the game directory, so I'm just going to drop those on my iPod.

Thanks to all!

BTW it ends up that the song by Genitorturers called "Lecher Bitch" was the one in the 'Last Round' club that I went back to a couple of times just to hear again :D

The tune "A Smaller God" by Darling Violetta blew me away :)

Also, there is a song by Daniel Ash, former member of Bauhaus. :D
