I went to an anglican school. We had 'religious instruction' for 3 years, but in it we studied and compared the history and practises of the world's major religions. It was a really enjoyable subject. If it had just been bible bashin, I dont think many of us would have showed(I went to a very multicultural highschool) ah, well *sigh* mtfbwya

The only way we can be truly understanding is by including all. The point of the poem was, if something offends a Christian, nobody can do anything. If somebody offends an Atheist, There's a lawsuit. What these people don't realize is that they are promoting one groups beliefs. This is the very thing that the ammendment was trying to prevent. IG-64
I'm getting generalization vibes from certain people that if you're openly christian and >18 then you're automatically brainwashed.
Rogue15
heh. yeah. I'm brainwashed....right. And I'm almost 21 years old. I've not been in a school where prayer wasn't aloud so i don't know how far it really is.....for instance, would i be allowed to bow my head and pray over my food before i ate it? or would that ****ing offend somebody and get me suspended? When it comes to things like guns and religion, the consitutional guidelines drawn up by your founding fathers/land stealers seem to cause alot of confusion and argument nowdays. Sheet, even here in australia our parliamentarians and citizens as a whole are switched on enough to think that social doctrines laid down 100-200 years ago may not be entirely relevant nowdays *buys ticket to sweden, land of nymphomaniacs with no hangups* mtfbwya
El Sitherino
Originally posted by Elijah That is the point good sir, only GOD has been removed, its ok to pray to any other God, but the God our founding fathers prayed to has been outlawed. BS, you know you can pray to your god. -_- don't give me that crap. How do I know? I've ****ing gone to bible classes at my local high school, it's held after school and done by students. Students are allowed to pray to their hearts content, and I support that. Teachers and faculty however, are not. I suppor that. There cannot be a court case for a student that willingly chose to pray by themselves. don't give me that joe. Those cases were when teachers forced a student to pray, or say something with religious overtones that they didn't want to say. If a student refuses to say the pledge because of the word god, don't make em. I personally think that's a stupid debate. It's a ****ing word, get over yourself, ya know? Originally posted by IG-64 I get mad that people just can't ignore it if someones praying or has a bible or something. I ignore when i'm watching the science channel and they shove evolution down my throat. I think everyone here supports your right to pray on your own time whenever you like, school or not. You wanna pray to ask god to let you pass a test, more power to ya. If you dont' like the discussion of evolution, why not change the channel? Originally posted by Redwing God hasn't exactly been outlawed. I think I'd be moving if that were true. same here, I think if I'm allowed the freedom to not believe (which I'm pretty much not.) then these people should have the freedom to believe. I support that that government keep it's laws out of these kinds of things. Support that no process is superior thus saying, believe if you want, don't believe if you don't want to. I'm tired of this fundie bs "omg help! the liberals are opressing me!" no, that's not true. You can pray to your hearts content. But the teachers cannot force you or any other student to. Noone is singling out christianity. By doing this you're only making a bigger target for yourself. Originally posted by Rogue15 I've not been in a school where prayer wasn't aloud so i don't know how far it really is.....for instance, would i be allowed to bow my head and pray over my food before i ate it? or would that ****ing offend somebody and get me suspended? nope, wouldn't offend anyone. Atleast not anyone with an average or above IQ. In the end, I support every person that prays, I however do not support a teacher of faculty member forcing a student to pray, regardless of what religion the prayer is. Forcing a religious belief onto an unwiling person is wrong, and against the law. Prayer itself is not. kthxbai.

Doomie
Yup, but now it has it's own thread. It's funny actually, since there are a lot of christians that say 'Believe in the lord Jesus, he is the one that will save us, all other gods are wrong. you shouldn't pray to them.' when someone tells that to them, they play victims. Now if i offended any christians out there: I only said that SOMe christians are like this, not all.
