Which Graphics Card to buy?

NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 256MB-PCI EXPRESS V NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 256MB-PCI EXPRESS V

Or

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON X600 PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, DVI/TV-Out, PCI Express, Model

There's a significant price difference, but not a huge difference in stats, so what do you think I should get?

You know what, i can't see anything the Nvidia has that the Ati doesn't, the games and software bundles are normaly rubish (or they would say half-life 2 in the stats),

I would think however that I am wrong and the Ati card dosn't support something all next gen games will use.

edit: Ive spotted it

"BUS: PCI-Express x16" Vs "BUS: PCI Express"

So, what type of problems would that cause with the difference of PCI-Express x16 Vs BUS: PCI Express

Agreed, besides the x800 doesn't come in PCI express for less than 500.00, so I went with the 6800 for my new system.

Thanks alot you guys.

Why not?? Just because of pixel shader 3.0 support? Thats the main difference, and graphical wise, even in still shots its very difficult to see the difference. On some occasions it even proves to be worse than pixel shader 2.0.

Duh the X800 lacks DX 9.0c support which will what next years game will be using.

ATI better do somethun about it

Games now are using it. And the X800 supports it fine. I know, I have one!

As for the x850, its not worth the extra jump in price.

As for pci-express, at the moment, and for a while it will be slower.

As for SLI support, for the extra price of two cards it is not worth it as feature wise they will be outdated....and then you've wasted your money! May as well just get a top of the range graphics card now, then when that gets too slow in a few years, get a new top of the range graphics card, but with the new features!

For the midrange one, get the XFX 6600 GT, its got all of the bells and whistles of a 6800 (Shader 3.0 and 9.0c) and the same price as the 9600XT, also much faster.

AGP

PCI

Quote from a Newegg.com user review: ....I upgraded from an ATI 9600XT and this card is light years ahead in quality....

For that power you -don't- need a new 480 watt power supply. Way worth it.

EDIT: and TiE, of yourse it is compared to a 9600XT, it only has 4 or 6 pixel pipelines, x800s and geforce 6800s have 12 or 16.

No, its a little faster than the 9800 pro, just he wanted to get a 9600XT. He said he already got a 6800, he was asking if the 9600XT was a good mid-range card.

PS: My card has 8 pipes.

OH! OH! OH!!!

*jumps up and down*

Get a BFGTech 6800 GT OC!

Check out this comparisson. It pits this card, the standard ultra version and the Radeon x800PRO against each other.

Here's one that just compares it to another (leadtek's) 6800 GT, linky

Cheaper and awesomer performance. What's not to love? :)

EDIT: I COMMAND you to get this card. :xp:
