Well, I am talking about how the actor portrays him. Anakin episode I anakin was a pretty good actor though, Episode II anakin isn't to great.

You thought that kid in episode 1 gave a good performance?

Haden Christiansen is a Golden Globe nominated actor (for My life as a house) which means he can act.

I put the blame on George Lucas. Because Natalie Portman (also a great actress) also came across wooden in the movies. GL isn't a good director of people, he is more of a special effects supervisor.

Since you have no involvement in the films, I'm not surprised Anakin wasn't what you thought he'd be like.

Anakin was a whiny, inexperienced teenager. And that is exactly how he was portrayed.

I agree with you, Haden Christensen is not the greatest actor, i believe they could have possibly did a better job at casting that character, but he did do his job by portraying Anakin as succombing to his hatred. That was his job and he did it. He still isn't that good of an actor though. Plenty of people that aren't good actors have been nominated for awards and others that are great have never won anything.

Hehe the trailer for Revenge Of The Sith looks awesome, you just hear Palpatine say "Lord Vader...?" then you hear this voice say "Yes.....Master?" and then Palpatine says "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise!" then this table type thing comes out of the ground or something, and Vader's strapped to it, it looks sooo cool!:D

My point about the award is that he can give a good performance and you can't see he's a terrible actor off one project where other great actors are giving sub-par performances as well.

*shudder*

I always liked the character of Luke Skywalker because he was THE jedi. He wasn't mired in tradition, overly cautious, or emotionally detatched like the pre-empire jedi are portrayed. He had all the human emotions, reactions, and thoughts, just mixed with jedi-ness.

I think you just described, beautifully, why the OT is loved more than the Prequels.

I just say that if you don't like the job the actor did, please show us your excellent performance that obviously outshines him.

Personally, I thought that he was good. In some parts, he was great. There's always going to be some conflicting views on how he was played, but take THAT up with George Lucas. All human minds aren't alike. They're going to imagine things differently.

Hayden does quite well, I think. He carries himself like Vader. His speech is cadenced like Vader. He talks with the same rhythm as Vader. Personally, I think people are just upset that Lucas' vision of Anakin didn't match theirs, despite the fact that Lucas' vision is far more consistent with the Vader we see in the OT.

As for him being an angsty teen, well look at this way. He was a teen, estranged from his mother, infatuated with a woman that he would have to break the very code of the Jedi to be with. If that isn't gonna give a teen angst, then I don't know what is.

In order for the character to work you have to see him suffer and struggle emotionally internally as well as externally. You can't take cute & sweet 8 year old kid and turn him into a hard unfeeling 16-18 year old who's only desire is to kill others. you have to show your audience the change in the character as a torn teenager with little control over his emotions, torn by love and desire for Padme, Nightmares of his mother in trouble(later to discover she really was in trouble and the force was reaching out to him), Then to have his mother die in his arms. I ask what would you do if those who were responsible for your mothers death were right outside a tent and you had the power to kill them, hhmmm. Then after you act upon your rage you realize what you did and how it conflicts with all of your training and control that you have been taught to maintain. It's called regret. End result no matter who played Anakin in AOTC you would have the same impression of him being a pathetic whiner. As to being George Lucas's fault come now guys These movies have been his vision his dreams since before some of you were even born, My only regret is we will probably never see the final 3 movies that involve Luke and his Shadow Years which would be the conclusion of the Original Star Wars Saga, which was the story of 2 droids not a story of Anakin skywalker.
