of course, if your run XP its absolutely impossible to remove IE in its entirety. Even if your remove it from your 'windows components, parts of IE are scattered all over the place, in the internet connection setup files, dial up networking setup files etc...

If you have msn messenger, click 'email' see what browser it brings up to show your hotmail ??

you cannot dissociate IE from a windows platform... which I think is sorta scary :(

That's why I don't switch to Firefox. I rarely actually click the browser icon on my desktop, because I usually go from hotmail, which is IE. Oh well, Hitler it is.

I'm using the GrayModern theme. It's nice. Extensions that are good:

IEview

ChatZilla

Disable Targets For Downloads

BBCode <-- Get this one. So useful.

Download Manager Tweak

FoxyTunes

Tabbrowser Preferences

I use IE because certain CSS, as well as iframes, only work/work best in IE.

If someone wants to go on about how crappy IE is, I couldn't care less :)

The only ones that won't work properly in Firefox are MS's proprietary extensions. Personally I wouldn't rely on nonstandard CSS, but that's your choice.

My hotmail defaults to IE as well. I don't think it's a major problem....

What do you mean by hotmail defaulting to ie? Surely it is just a web adrress, so it should use whatever the default browser is? Or do you have it set up in outlook or windows messenger something?

Aye, when I check my hotmail, it's via MSN Messenger.

you are right. Apprently there are ways to get around it

(a) regedit, but htis can mess up a few things in messenger

(b) stuffplug plugin, but this need messenger plus, which some consider adware

but i'm not sure either is worth the drawback.

The other option would be to switch to a different messenger client like Gaim that supports both msn messaging and deault browsers...
