I say give Fred a HUGE hand!

Give Fred Tetra a HUGE hand, if it wansn't for him, we wouldn't have this amazing Kotor Tool, here is a quote by Fred:

"As I have said in the past, and now for the benefit of those with under 100 posts <grin>, working on a tool of this complexity in a professional environment would result in one release every 3-6 months. Bugs or not, you'd have to wait. The flip side is that you can have new features and fixes more often, but not everything will be fixed in a given release, and some new bugs may even creep in.

It takes a *long* time to do a complete set of regression tests on a piece of software like Kotor Tool, so I forgo doing them in favor of smaller unit tests. Sometimes little things slip by, like the crazy button-movement in the Inventory editor.

Know as well, that I write code 8-10 hours a day as my primary job, then spend several more hours in the evening, sometimes until 2:00 AM, working on Kotor Tool. It is hard to get everything 100% right when you get 6 hours of sleep! I haven't even had the time to play KotOR II (thanks, ChAiNz.2da!) more than 1.5 hours yet. All of my free time has gone into making a new version of Kotor Tool available to my friends here in this community. Heck, I haven't even been to the movies since I started the first Kotor Tool back around December 2003! No time!

As Darth333 and ChAiNz.2da mentioned, I do this for free. I now have 511 hours invested in Kotor Tool, and even with the kind and generous donations, if you calculated an hourly rate, it would be indeed less that US $1/hr. Tools that do far simpler stuff, like set your PC's clock to match an atomic standard, charge a shareware fee. I don't; the donations folks make allow me to avoid the side jobs needed to pay bills, replace failed hard drives, and other such stuff. So..think about it......". Fred you desrve the highest praise! W00t! You do so much for us!

:emodanc::band1:emodanc:THANKS, Fred Tetra!

Hey Fred, man I didn't know that!! :(

At the risk of catching "flak" (I'm bracing myself)...you should really take some 'time off' and at least get to enjoy the game through a complete playthrough... truly... that's unfair to you...

Granted you wouldn't be missing much of a story  but you should at least have to suffer with us ;) hehehe

Seriously, take a break man... if anyone deserves it, it's you....

I'm pretty sure you've built up some Holowan "vacation time"...

oh yeah... Thank You for everything you've done.

I agree. You deserve a break Fred.

Go and play TSL. Don't listen to Chainz. The story is better than in K1 just the ending is not. :D

Thank you Fred,

I enjoyed fidling around with KOTOR Tool and managed to create some nice items for myself, thanks to you I might even contribute to this community some day.

Go you! \o/

And although we all admire your commitment to your project we can and will submit to you taking a break.

My SECOND ever post on Holowan Labs, which would have been first, (you were absolutely correct, Darth333) except this was buried a little further into the forum, is to Mr. Fred Tetra sir, without whom most of these mods would not be possible. And of course TK102, whose KOTOR savegame editor makes life so much easier when trying out a new mod, (or when stuck because my security skill is too low to open a door....) ;)

And Darth333, another big thanks to you and all the other excellent writers of how-to guides, because I have found them invaluable when trying to merge, especially, conflicting appearance.2da files, and etc.

So thanks. Really, really thanks.

And Fred, as has been mentioned repeatedly, PLEASE take a break. We'll wait. God forbid you should get burnt out!

I too wish to add my thanks to those already extended to Mr. Fred Tetra. I'm a newb modder and don't think I'll ever do any heavy duty modding but I've found Fred's KT to make the whole process so much easier than I would have ever expected. It's so great to be able to tweak the game and make it play how I want. I mean, it doesn't get any better than this...

KUDOS FRED! :thumbs1:

Muchisimas Gracias

Merci

P.S. I also agree that anyone who appreciates your efforts would want you to have the opportunity to play TSL at least once before you put your nose to the grindstone again... :):sweating:

I would like to say 'Thanks!' to all of you for your kind comments!

I am glad that you enjoy Kotor Tool; I enjoy creating new features for it to make your modding experience better and extend the value of your gaming dollar. :)

Some of you have asked about making a donation for my efforts, and the cash some have sent has come in quite handy.

I had an idea for another type of donation that some may be able to do more easily than cash. I may be getting a used GameCube for Christmas (why we're celebrating *way* late is beyond what most people would care about), and some used games would be nice. Just a suggestion :)

So thanks again to all of you, I am glad you enjoy my work.

Fred Tetra
