RpTheHotrod
No no, consessions (food/drink) cost money, of coase. The events themselves are free. (ie showing up, and if you're lucky enough to sign up quick enough to be in the 3000 allowed to bring their own computers, that is also free). Pretty much, everything is free except food and drink. You can also to the developer talk with the doom creators. You also get free hardware randomly (ie they throw it into crowd). You can also get free stuff for doing weird things around the place. It's in the Dallas area, Grapevine, to be exact. The hotel it's at is beautiful!

Acrylic
Originally posted by IG-64 Pfft, I wish they'd play JA, all they play are a bunch of shooting games. :/ Most shooting games (Halflife [CS], UT series) are better for lan parties. Those > JA

Astrotoy7
wow, what a geekfest..... as for texas....being of southern european and islamic heritage......umm....I might give it a miss "Here's Your reason to not come to texas....boy" mtfbwya
SkinWalker
That is *so* wrong, Astro.... Texas isn't like that at all. (I'm in the Dallas area, myself). Texans don't hide behind sheets... if they're racist, they'll tell you up front and call you bad names to your face. Also, no self-respecting Texan would stand for that nonsense rebel flag... we have our own in the Sovereign Nation of Texas: I might have to drop into the QuakeCon this year and check it out... do they give away cool freebies? What's the trick to getting them? Do you have to get there early?
RpTheHotrod
They have "events" where they talk and give out free stuff. Where in Dallas, SkinWalker?

Astrotoy7
well we all know about Alabama, jokemaster... Skinwalker, I am perhaps unfiarly biased against Texans. A couple of years back I had a Texan boss. She always used to go on about how every single thing is better in Texas.... she also got really pissed off at me when I put a picture on my desk of Malcolm X during Namaz(Islamic prayer) in Cairo... here eyes went wide, here face went red, and she told me to get rid of it or get out..... you can guess the rest * * * as for LANs, I live next to two universities, so have floated into a few over recent years.... I didnt do any gaming tho mtfbwya
Dagobahn Eagle
I've lived in Houston for three years, and most people there are nice. I don' think I met a single racist during my stay there. Ever. Ignorants, sure (hey, it's humans:p), but racists? No. I saw a pick-up truck with a Confederate flag sticker in the back window, but that was all. lukeiamyourdad
Yeah but you're norwegian. If you were black, hispanic, asian, arabic, etc... You'll notice it. Anywhere you go, there'll be racist people.
Acrylic
White people would get uber discriminated against....in Zimbabwe. (sp?) I remember reading an article where the president (or dictator or something) was blocking all color and white from the TV, mainly because he hated white people... Weird guy. Very True I live in Austin and have seen no problems before, Texas, and all of the US for that matter is pretty non-racists, Most people burned that bridge in the 1970's but there are some bigots that have to hold on... as to the LAN party, thats not my cup of tea, but would be fun to get some free hardware
