You know, If you turned your air conditioner off you'd have more to complain about:D

As for me this whole corner of the state has been hotter than usual even for this time of year, and the humidity has been rainforestish so sweating is pretty much useless, and I run a little higher temperature anyway, so basically I have to work all day while my skin burns from the inside out and leaves burn rashes any where covered with more than one layer

*All the forum gals run away screaming after seeing my feet*

Not to mention the fact that I have fairly high blood pressure resulting in a headache that has lasted for most of the month, BUT THAT'S LIFE, YA GOTTA DEAL WITH IT AND HOPE IT DOESN'T LAST TOO LONG:D

heh, you oughta try running a single PC in a room that doesn't have AC with the outside temp @ 90+ degrees.

lets just say that i've had to upgrade the cooling systems on my machine a couple of times....

actually, most everything is overclocked. i haven't reverted back to normal speeds just because my room gets hot.

i was saying 'overclocked goodness' because thats what it feels like to be constantly drinking coffee: like you're running faster than normal (like overclocking). the whole idea was devoted solely to coffee drinking, not actual overclocking. i guess not every analogy comes out the way you want it to....

....oh well.

as for things that are overclocked on my system: video card, main processor, FSB (only by about 4-5MHz. any faster, and the computer won't run), and the memory bus. and to be honest, i didn't go overboard with it; just enough to give me a small speed boost. it probably doesn't generate much more heat than on the OEM settings, except the video card.

i know that it runs about 35-40 C degrees hotter than OEM (with the stock heatsink/fan. i replaced that a long time ago and put heatsinks on the memory modules). the main processor runs about 10-20 C degrees hotter on the stock heatsink/fan. during the spring, it was running about 100 C degrees or so. but when it jumped to about 125-130 C during the summer, thats when i opted for a new fan/heatsink. i also have a new intake fan mounted on the case. and that led to a new power supply, which has two fans on it for even more cooling.

what a headache (and a pain in the wallet)...

ya, i know (and i have an Athlon 3200 XP). but like i said earlier, with temps getting into the 130 C range, i really needed to get a new heatsink/fan combo. it now runs at a healthy 95-100 C. :D

IMHO, i'd wait for the new duel-core systems to come down in price. and since the AMD duel-cores use the same sockets as the AMD 64 single-cores, those systems will probably be running a lot cheaper than the Intel systems. but, like i said: wait for it to become more of the market norm before you get it: it'll be much cheaper that way.

thats why i haven't upgraded my Athlon 3200, Radeon 9700 Pro(AGP, obviously), and 1 GB of DDR-333 to a newer system. go figure.

I hope you made sure to remind them, prefferably in front of everyone involved, and just before he rendered his verdict:D

As for Me, IT'S STILL THE HOTTEST SUMMER EVER, WHEN YOU CAN BE PAINTING IN A DARK BASEMENT WITH TWO FANS GOING AND SWEATING OFF A GALLON OF WATER AN HOUR THAT'S PRETTY DANG HOT,

and it has been ridiculously muggy most of the summer, but some heavy hurricane rains cooled it off for a few days, THEN THE RESULT WAS IT WAS EVEN MORE RAINFORESTY THAN BEFORE:firemad:

On the bright side, I took some photos and may have a TRUE LIFE W.I.P. photo link list in my signature soon:D

you should try changing your oil on a 4x4 truck. it takes almost 30min just to take off the skid plate, then 20min to actually change the oil, then another 35+min to put the skidplate back on.

oh, and did i mention that it hit 90 degrees down here today?? ya, you do the math...

Sounds like we're in the same boat:D

A BIG FAT NAPALM DRENCHED BOAT, BAIL OUT!!!!!!!:p

Wait, you're in south carolina right, I thought it was more than 90 down there, we've actually had a few days over 100 where we're working, because it's a valley and humidity tends to settle there, but around 90 is the norm, are you sure your thermometer is telling you how hot it is, I'd imagine it'd be in the 110+ range down south:(

if it got over a hundred down here, i'd be using a personal water cooling system (aka, a hose) to keep me cool.

and so you know: most of the northeast region seems to average at about 80-90 degrees during summer. and the reasons you just stated is why you get hotter than the rest of the northeast.

basically, you get to experience a similar effect that covers the entire southeast region. we get a lot of humidity that comes in from the Gulf of Mexico that keeps things nice and hot down here constantly.

definately not a great reason to live in the South.

Yeah, I spent most of december on what parents like to refer to as "vacation"

we stayed in a retirement village trailer that a relative owns, wasn't one cool day there, basically a miserable time, and to top it of we had to go to disney world, because my little sister just "had" to go to epcot (the only thing you can do there is eat, and their new EXTREME ride, the test car track, was programmed by an old granny who had obviously never driven a back road over 70 before:D )

wow i got sidetracked:D

Although, it wasn't always like that here, my dad says it's the hottest summer he's seen here in 20 years:eek:

my cold blooded mom thinks its just balmy and always turns the AC off:p

And I just got the AC fixed in my car, now that it runs, I only have about fifty ponies left to make the car go:D

When we get a cool summer, you can come up here and build me a tricked out gaming rig:D

Bah, you think heat with zap your computer? Try taking apart a glow stick power supply then sticking it on your metal computer chassis plugging it in with power then watch the fireworks! :p

(You will most likely get a Hard Disk boot unable to start error if you try this ;) )

Where I work, we train people from all over the U.S. It's funny to see people from up north trying to handle it. One guy had to go to the hospital. He was o.k. though.
