I would suggest getting familiar with dialogue editing and basic scripting in advance, just so that if you ever want to make a mod involving those things you'll be more prepared. It really depends on what you want to do most with modding, though. What interests you the most?

On the third Friday of every month we meet to dance naked around a campfire and watch Darth333 sacrifice a titmouse to our screaming bloodlust.

Let us know if there's anything we can do to help you join us. Have family at home, do you? We're going to need your address.

??? Is that help?

@DarthDementous: I suggest to download a lot of mods, install-it, see how was make-it and how affect game. That will be a good start.

And don't forget our monthly sacrifice. October is puppy month ;)

Nooooo! Not a puppy! :(

DarthDementous: if you want to get started, get some tools, (read this thread: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=143421), have a look at the tutorials (Jackel gave you all the links) and explore the files with Kotor tool. Then decide what you want to do but try to start with a small and simple project such as editing the properties of an item. And as oldflash mentioned, look at other mods to see how it's done.

If you have questions or don't understand something in a tutorial, then don't hesitate to ask on the boards but be specific please. If you ask "How can I do mods" in a general way there's not much we can do apart telling you read the tuts.

erm... since this thread has turned into spam fest :lock:
