shamelessposer
I saw Serenity last night. The entire movie is a labor of love. Great dialog, wonderful story, memorable characters. It's better than anything with the Star Wars name on it to come out in the last twenty years. If you have a pulse, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. 90SK
Thanks for the advice . I'm seeing it this weekend.
ET Warrior
I'm thoroughly tempted to give this movie my #1 stamp. I absolutely loved everything I saw, it had anything a great movie needs. Of course, I'm such a Firefly fan I probably would've liked this movie no matter...

El Sitherino
Whats stopping you from stamping it? Star Wars being vastly superior.
ET Warrior
Star Wars being vastly superior. Hardly. The only reason it hasn't gotten it yet is I need a week to step back and make sure i'm not overhyping it because I'm so excited about a Serenity movie. I feel somewhat confident it just may get it though. It is one DAMN fine movie.
RaV™
Saw it last night..pretty good movie..I still think every other movie doesn't have a thing on SW.

Aash Li
Star Wars being vastly superior. ahahahahahahaha!! Wait Im not done.. holding my sides ahaha hah haha hah Aaaah..... thanks for that laugh, I havent laughed so hard since Kaylee said what she did in that bar scene. and now back to what I was gonna originally post... OMFG!!!! THE best scene of the whole movie I think... River standing all bloody and dirty over all those dead reavers... *giggle* So sexy and cool. (remember, if you highlight the text, its your own fault if you havent seen the movie!) I loved how they got the whole original cast back for this movie. It was great. Inara and Kaylee looked just as hot as ever too. I give it 10 fingers and 10 toes up out of 10 and 10! lol
El Sitherino
It is one DAMN fine movie. Yeah, it's a damn good movie. But watch ANH after you watch it, and it's not as good. Then again it is pretty much comparing apples and onions. It's a great movie, easily re-watchable, but there are better movies out there.
Bimmerman
I loved it. I didn't know there was a TV show before I saw the movie(blame it on my lack of interest in cable TV), but I seriously want to see the show now. I laughed so hard through the movie, especially in the bar scene. This has got to be the best sci-fi movie I've seen this summer.
Aash Li
Firefly was originally shown on Fox, but since they are all brainded for (un)reality shows, they cancelled it.
REDJOHNNYMIKE
SHINY!!! Easily one of the best movies ever made. I would say that it takes it's big pimp hand and just punishes the new SW movies, and is on par with the OT as well, the dialog, characters, intensity, atmo', and pretty much everything was perfectly executed. I actually thought of a pretty good review on the home tonight, but forgot because the story was so freakin awesome:D If a network doesn't get down on their knees and beg the creators to bring it back, then they must be tried for treason, period. the i am a leaf part kinda sucked though ( don't spoil that for anybody) whedon pwns gl (with the exception of the stupid buffy shows:D) @Ashley, after reading your spoiler......you are most definitely "not right":D @IS, I'd say they're about equal, ANH being longer and deeper, but Serenity is more intense, for example, compare the scenes where luke is attacking the death star and the firefly is flying through the battle between the alliance and reavers, obviously ANH's is more epic and memorable, but after watching the firefly you might just sleep through "use the force luke" Serenity=OT>NT where (> = PWNS)
Aash Li
Oh, and what would you say is the best scene of the movie, if not that? Sure the space battle scene was pretty awesome, it too was one of my favourites. And yes, Serenity most definitely pwns new star wars trilogy. Serenity seems to lack the depth and epic feel in the movie, because you need to have watched the series to get some of the back story. They atleast tried to fill you in on why the Alliance wanted River, and stuff at the very begining instead of dropping you off at teh first appearance of the ship. Prime
Now I'm probably going to be disappointed after all this hype...
Aash Li
Ignore the hype then? I would say go to the movie and expect it to suck, and then be pleasantly suprised when it rocks... but that doesnt always work...
shamelessposer
Oh, and what would you say is the best scene of the movie, if not that? Sure the space battle scene was pretty awesome, it too was one of my favourites. The best part is easily "I am a leaf on the wind." I'm a huge fan of Wash, but his death leaves you on the edge of your seat for the rest of the movie. A very, very close second would be the scene immediately after, where the crew is preparing to make a last stand against the Reavers.
Aash Li
Ah... well I guess it depends on who your favourite chara is... though Kaylee is mine, followed by Inara, and then River. hehe My favourite line from Kaylee... (paraphrased) Its been over a year since Ive had anything between my nethers that wasnt battery powered! There were so many giggles in the theater after that. lol But the best battle scene imho: Where the crew tricked the reavers into following them, and then they (the reavers) unwittingly suprise-attacked the Alliance armada... that was just so awesome to watch. I didnt like seeing Wash die... I nearly cried. That was a sucky way to kill off a chara, but atleast he didnt get taken by the reavers alive. ET Warrior
Words from Joss Whedon - Meanwhile, I'm just rounding out the weekend with a little praise for my dear peeps. Considering everything we've had to overcome, this is an extraordinary achievment. And you guys have been in the front lines. I lurk, I know all. So thanks. Some of you might know that this flick means more than a little to me. Yes, the second weekend will tell all, as we've always known. I'm not here to push you guys -- you push yourselves way harder than I could anyway. I'm just trying to figure out how to get the message out to the guys that aren't you, that don't know any of you, and that don't run into someone who saw the film. I'll be hounding the extremely patient Uni execs on that very subject. Like the lady said, "People have to know". It's not that there HAS to be a sequel. It's just that I've got so many IDEAS... -joss

ET Warrior
Picking a favorite scene from Serenity is a big challenge, since the whole thing was so fantastic. I'd have to go with the scene on Serenity, after they've discovered the secret of Miranda, and Mal is giving his speach to everyone. The cinemetography, the speach itself, and Jayne's eventual "If you can't do something smart, do something right" Either that, or the very end on the bridge with Mal and River. Those scenes really stick out in my mind
Aash Li
I thought the fender thingy blowing off at the end, and Mal, asking: What was that? Was pretty funny. Dont think this needs to be in spoilers as its not plot essential... but just in case. ^_^
Prime
Yes, the second weekend will tell all, as we've always known. While me and some peeps will be heading out to catch it on the second weekend, it doesn't appear that it is meeting with much box office success for the long term. Serenity was the only film in the top ten this weekend to have lower ticket sales on Saturday than it did on Friday (down 6.2% Saturday and 30.7% on Sunday). Word of mouth will have to be relied upon to get the numbers up... Not that it affects the quality of the film either way...
TheGreenGoblin
I didn't see this movie nor do I plan to, but I think a big reason for the lackluster numbers was the previews and trailers which were pretty generic.
Aash Li
With trailers you cant really give out a great deal of info without spoiling alot of the movie. Like in that one battle scene they could have shown it, but I think it would have ruined the whole surprise of the movie... And theres also the name change. It switched from being Firefly to Serenity... so the name is most likely throwing off people that would automatically recognize the movie otherwise. But who knows, theres also the overseas movie sales and then theres the dvds and vhs sales to consider...
