"Got it! Hm? Damn!" voice

I hope this thread doesn't already exist. Surely you know how the PC says short blips of dialogue during certain actions. Is there a way that you can place dialogue blips in TSL so that the PC has another dynamic? I am not suggesting "copying over" the sound files from KOTOR, but recording new ones. Any suggestions?

From what I've found, the sound files exist. Obsidian has v/o for your PC in the folders, but it isn't used... If you want to listen to it, use Kotor Tool to look under BIF's, sounds.bif, wav, then look through all the p_plyer(m for male, f for female).wav files... You can extract them to your desktop and listen to 'em with Miles... So, I guess if you wanted to, you can replace them, but first you'd have to script it so that the PC actually says them, because it was cut from TSL.

^^^^

I didn't know about that. I'm going to have to check that out. Pretty cool.

@MdKnightR:

I believe there was a mod that gave the female PC Bastila's Voice. (this is for K1)

If you can find it, you could probably see how they did it. It would probably be the same for K2.

EDIT:

Hum.... I was able to listen to them without even decompressing them..... interesting.

this is the first time I've done anything related to sound. From the tutorial, I though it was more complicated them that. All I did was extract with KTool and they played in winamp.

Wow, theres quite a few of them too. There are 68 Female wavs ( I just extracted those for now.) They have the "mine laid and ready" ones that are already in the game. There are also quite a few that add a bit of "flavour" to your charactor.

MdKnightR, I hope you do this! If you don't I might have to do it myself. I really don't want to because I'm too lazy, though. hehe :p

Unzip the attached file into your Override folder and then use KotorTool to extract all the sound files starting with p_plyer into your StreamSounds folder from your TSL sounds.bif.

Then you can use KSE to give your Exile one of the player soundsets (called Player_Female and Player_Male in KSEs listing).

If you've done everything right your Exile would now have the same soundset as was used in KotOR1 without having copied anything from that game. :)

there is no default setting for a voiceover set of sound files for tsl, so you have to give your pc a set. KSE allows you to edit many variables that you have in each save. Open it up and try it out, its not a big download or very hard to use.

for example-

I got bored one day and made up a set for my exile, but i wasnt certain how to have it set aside for his (sorry, im a dude) own selection, so I just had it overwrite the diciple's sound bits and used them for my exile.

I wont release these sounds for public use, as it would have several copyright infringments >.>

Well, I put this off long enough, so I decided to make these changes tonight. However, there is one major problem. When I go to set the player soundsets, KSE doesn't have options for "Player_Female" and "Player_Male" in TSL. HELP!

if you go back up a few posts and get the zip file

stoffe offered it should work

Unzip and put those files in K2 Override and open KSE

(or close, then reopen KSE)

Make sure you use Kotor Tool to get all the sound files

in K2 and drop them in StreamSounds

should be good to go then...

this was one of the first mod 'thingies' I tried and it

worked just like written

it's nice to actually hear my femme Exile in game ;)

(even if it is recycled Revan's voice from K1 :))

I put KSE in it's own folder in Program Files on my computer

(named it Kotor Savegame Editor)

That folder contains all the files for KSE:

kotor_savegame_editor3.3.3.pl

kse_333.exe

kse_333_source.zip

kse-readme.txt

Also, I could be wrong here, but I don't think you

can have subfolders in Override.

I think the game(s) will only read from the main

folder, not subfolders

Try putting soundset.2da, p_playerm.ssf & p_playerf.ssf

directly in the Override folder and see if that works...
