Jeff
This man. Clive Owen looks like a bond it shoudl be him, apparently he came 2nd in the competition or something like that. I think this guy looks better... Hugh Jackman But Clive would be good too. Though, I've got to say that Christian Bale would be the best.
90SK
Too bad we can't just compromise with a hybrid clone. I guess we'll have to save that for the Bond of the future.
Taos
I was rooting for Clive Owen myself. They gave it to the one I least expected. lol oh wellz I'll still enjoy the series though no matter who's got the Bond role.
ewok mercenary
I think Daniel Craig is perfect for the role. He's got the acting talent, and like Dalton, could just as easily play a villain, which is a positive thing in my books. I'm sick of the pretty-boy, goody-goody Bond that we had with the more recent Brosnan films. Here's hoping that the actual Casino Royale movie will follow the trend, and get back to making Bond an interesting character, rather than an action prop. Alegis
Ah well, still think craig is a better choice than the screenies form other actors posted in this topic. Seems Brosnan is saying stupid things again. The Irish actor, 52, was heartbroken at being dropped from the role of the suave superspy, and he is certain movie bosses have made a huge mistake. He says, "Whether they made the right choice, who knows? They're probably scared s**tless, thinking, 'What have we done?'" http://www.themovieblog.com
toms
When it comes to gadgets, I don't mind if there are fewer of them in future Bond movies. To be honest I think it's all become a bit too glitzy, and needs to get back to its hardcore roots. If anything, the two recent Jason Bourne movies are closer to what I think Bond should be, with the character more reliant on his own skills, and a more realistic plot. Gotta agree with you there. Die Another Day went overboard with the gadgets to the point of almost being cartoonish. It was not the worst Bond movie, but seeing Pierce surf an avalanch with a parachute and a piece of fiberglass made me twist in my seat quite a bit. The Bourne movies are the new age of Spy movies, and the best out there, IMO. The Bourne Identity had all the mystery and depth of a good old Flemming Bond Novel ... hopefully they keep going forward with the Bourne movies, they seem to pick up alot of what was left behind by the Bond franchise. I agree with you guys 100%. I really liked the first half of Die Another Day (opening scene, good baddy and sword fight) but then it turned into some form of bad sci-fi film with cyborg gloves and invisible cars... sigh. They definately seem to be going for a slightly more hardcore, back to basics approach with Casino Royale. hopefully they can manage to do this in a Bourne sytle way, rather than going for the slightly too gritty style they tried with dalton. From that picture of Craig posing as bond (which actually works well, much to my surprise after seeing him as a bonde) it looks like they are going for a slightly retro, old style feel to the thing. Which cool either work really well or look stupid. I guess that they must be doing it as a prequel (as they won't have monneypenny or Q or many gadgets) so I wonder if they will be setting it in the past? If they are setting it in the past they should try and go for a Dr No/Goldfinger style. If they are setting it in the present they should go for a Bourne meets Spooks (UK tv spy drama) feel. Brosnan was great as bond, but the plots of his films (except goldeneye and World is not enough) let him down.
Bob Lion54
I FINALLY saw Batman Begins yesterday. I have to say, Bale would be an awsome Bond. Jackman would, too, but I think I would keep expecting him to use Wolverine's claws.hehe. What about Michael T. Weiss from the pretender? I think he could pull it off. Plus, I think the ladies like him Or what about David Boreanaz?
