Guybrush Jones
Why in the hell they don't upgrade it anymore?!? The dude who did the first versions isn't upgrading it anymore, but why nobady upgrade it? It's a damn great and usefull program, I think it's impossible that there isn't a true LucasArts fan out there who want to upgrade it. No comment to the newest version, a beta version, which is extremely incomplete, and impossible to use. Just take it and finish it. Please. Guybrush Jones
Why don't you do something about it? 'Cause I'm not expert in those stuff. I can't understand why someone started the project, and then stopped it.
Thrik
Because some people actually have lives to live, and cannot sit around all day developing free software which is likely to appeal to an extremely small crowd of people in comparison to where else their talents could be used. It's not like there isn't a perfectly functional version of the utility.

Sooo...they didn't have lives before? It's not like there isn't a perfectly functional version of the utility. Bull$hit. The latest version is a beta version, extremely incomplete, and basically useless and impossible to use. Of course the previsious versions are complete, but it's meaningless to start a new project and then abandon it.
Remi
Of course it isn't meaningless. Most everything takes priority over making a silly little piece of software that very few people will use.

Joshi
Sooo...they didn't have lives before? These things tend to be started by people in their teens with nothing better to do. That was a few years ago, and as we all know, as years go by, we get older, it's a safe bet that they now have better things to be doing with their time, so in answer to your slightly rhetorical question, yes. Thrik
What Joshi said is correct. Back when Serge released the last fully functioning version of SCUMM Revisited, he was barely out of his teens and somebody with a lot of programming juice to burn off. Students and whatnot are pretty much the primary creator of free software on the web right now, and that's because they can justify it as a learning experience. Just to clarify, it has now almost been six years since that last version and Serge is now towards the end of his 20s and most probably has a career to take care of. Developing a redundant, improved version of something he made years ago probably isn't something that'll slip onto his priority list for a good while. Perhaps another programmer would be inspired to do it if, you know, there wasn't already a perfectly functional version of it out there. Sadly, a lot of people aren't willing to invest the hours and hours of time necessary into something that is neither theirs or likely to attract many users at all. Try to think about things in a less selfish manner.

Mickey Bitsko
Nothing personal, but why is it that people tend to complain the most about the things that come free? Like I said in another thread, the good people at ScummVM should be awarded the Nobel Prize for their selfless contributions to gamers everywhere.
