RevanA4
ok I my TSL play disk is majorly scratched up to the point where it won't run correctly I'm wondering how much a resurface actually works and to what extent its good for as I have no desire to shell out another 50 bucks to get another set of CD's any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks Revan
Boba Rhett
Unless you've severely taken a chunk out of the Cds surface to the point where it's gotten through and ripped up the thin sheet of metal, a resurfacing/polish should do you wonders. Many game companies offer to replace damaged game disks for like 10 bucks. I know LA used to do it for their games. I suggest getting dSkins for your pricey games. They're like a dollor each but really protect your discs.
El Sitherino
Many game companies offer to replace damaged game disks for like 10 bucks. I know LA used to do it for their games. They still do for some games. I got a replacement for Jedi Outcast when my disk got scratched to hell, same with Dark Forces. But yeah, those skins for discs are pretty good. They had a sale going on for them at compUSA.
JediKnight707
Windex. Granted that ****ed up one of my games before, but works alright for me (I'm joking btw). I have a CD cleaner, and it works fine.
lukeiamyourdad
There's something I don't understand about this, how can anyone damage their CD that much without it being totally accidental? Perhaps it's just me who takes too much care of his stuff...
Boba Rhett
Hey, I take care of things. I played my original copy of Jedi Knight so much that it wore out and I began to fear disc failure and ran out and bought a new copy. Things get junked up quickly if you loan them out too. lukeiamyourdad
Strange, I played KotOR 1 to death and it still doesn't much more then a puny and insignificant scratch on it.
Boba Rhett
I think I had done a min install so a lot was always being pulled from the cd, making it constantly run. I was also probably bumping the desk while it did this. No matter how hard I try and can't stop Xbox games from scuffing though. I'm going to start using dSkins on all new games I buy. Bob Lion54
Since the disk is already messed up, you might as well try one of those CD fixer thingies. Its not like you can really mess it up anymore and you might just save a few bucks. I bought a "Kit" to fix one of my music CDs once. It put this figure-eight, flowery design all over it, BUT it played!
Astrotoy7
As long as you own the originals. whats wrong with making a backup?? Ive done this for JO/JA and KOTOR/TSL and their original discs are in pristine condition mtfbwya

Ive done this for JO/JA and KOTOR/TSL and their original discs are in pristine condition mtfbwya You are allowed by law to make copies of cds you own, as long as you dont distribute the copies. Also, dont buy those cleaning kits or the resurfacing polish. Just get Toms Toothpaste. It'll do the trick, and a tube of it will only cost about 2$. (Im not joking). Darth InSidious
The only game disc I've ever in recent years had problems with is my SFC3 one. It has barely three surface scratches, and yet every time I try to install, the damn thing claims there's a corrupt file at about 9%. I've tried cleaning it, to no effect. I suppose the coffee stains might be a problem, but that's a little unlikely, don't you think?
