Nitro
GameCube. I finished story mode, and this is definately a lot longer than the first game. The levels are twice as long with way more stuff to find and unlock. Good stuff. I'll be playing this for a while yet. I'm really diggin' it too. I love ripping people's arms off with Chewie. Nute Gunray
I've got a new computer coming, but due to an oversight, my joystick is obselete now. My good old Sidewinder Precision Pro's USB adapter is looooooong lost and the new machine lacks a game port. Since finding a USB adapter for the thing that works is out of the question, I have to get a new one I guess. Is there anything that doesn't suck that also doens't cost a fortune? It seems like all the sticks out there are too lightweight on the base and are prone to not staying put like that monster footprint the old SPP had. Keyan Farlander
So you don't have a sound card?
Nute Gunray
Evidentally they don't put gameports in soundcards any more. Even if I had one, Win XP Media Center wouldnt know what to do with it. It doesnt like gameports. There's my soundcard.
Wildstar
I figured most sound cards would still have game ports, as the game port serves double-duty as a MIDI port. You should shop for a sound card that has one, Nute.
edlib
Is that an Audigy 2Z 2? The Soundblaster 2Z cards come with a gameport that connects to the card via ribbon cable and sits in the slot below it.
Nute Gunray
Its an Audigy 4. I wish I'd thought of this before I'd actually spent money but oh well. The Audigy 4 doesnt have a gameport, but the Audigy 4 Pro does. I'd thought about maybe pulling the soundcard out of this machine and using it for its gameport (i assume you can have two soundcards), but the Precision Pro's XP drivers don't like using anything other than USB anyhow. Definitely seems like I'm going to have to get a new stick, unless I do track down that adapter somewhere in my parents house.
Rogue15
i got a cold. bad sore throat....thankfully i have today off, but tomorrow i have to wake up early and OPEN at work.....the calling off button is sounding pretty good right now. i drank half a gallon of orange juice last night, and that didn't help any. waiting for galaxies servers to load up....prolly clean some of the apt today...have to pay a magazine subscription cause they sent a credit harrassing thing to me...kept forgetting to pay it. then they sent me a thing asking if i want to cancel and so i write on there i want it cancelled, then the next week i get this creditor collection notice bull**** calling me out for nothing. stupid. so i'll just pay it to get it outta my hair. 2 years subscription to north american hunter magazine....$24........they just better not call my house "offering" me stuff..... Ikhnaton
nute, why would finding an adapter be out of the question? it is probably easier than you think.
Nute Gunray
The only adapter that worked with my stick was the one it shipped with. Evidentally nothing else works with it. And tracking one of those down is pretty tough. At least tracking one down without also having to get another stick (what do i need two sticks for!) is hard. edlib
If you can't find one on eBay, then you are screwed. On the other hand, the stick/ throttle setup that Nitro showed us earlier in the thread looked pretty damn sweet. Get one of those. Though it's probably not cheap, I bet... Keyan Farlander
OK people, more girl issues. If you don't remember the situation, read back in this thread a month or two ago. Here's what's happening now. Every couple of weeks we exchange a few e-mails, talking about old friends from high school, how work is going, etc. As you may remember, about 5 weeks ago I asked her if she would like to get together for dinner or something after work one night that week. She said she was busy that week, but maybe the next time she was home. "Home" is where I live, and where she used to live. She now lives an hour and half south of there. But I work something like halfway in between the two places. Hence why I asked her if she would like to do something after work. She comes "home" every few months or so to see her parents and stuff. Now, what I'm trying to figure out is this: was her saying maybe next time she was home a way of saying she's not interested in seeing me, don't ask again? Because otherwise I can't think of why she would not just say some other time when she wasn't busy instead. The reason this matters is this. I'm going to be working on a special project down there for two days next week. I'm literally going to be minutes away from where she lives and works. So, should I tell her this and ask her if she wants to get together one of those days? Of course it couldn't hurt to ask, but if she was trying to tell me she wasn't interested in getting together before, I'm going to look like a retard who can't take a hint. The reason this is so delicate and I have no idea what to do is that she has a boyfriend. Now, I'm not trying to win her away from him or anything like that. I would just like to get to know her a little and become better friends. Just because I like her and I think she is a good person. It has been perfectly clear from our conversations so far that I am not hitting on her or anything like that. However...she is, like, uber hot, and I know that any overture of closer friendship will be met with some cynicism because of that. I don't want to do anything to make her uncomfortable or to make me look like an ass. So...suggestions? Ask or not?

Keyan Farlander
Bah, I had tire troubles of my own today. I blew out a tire, but thankfully it was right in front of my house. I had half an hour to change the tire and make it to Goodyear. I just made it, and got myself a new tire. So that sucks, but it was incredibly lucky that it happened at the exact time and place it did.
Nute Gunray
I couldnt change a tire on my car if my life depended on it. But only because they always over-tighten the lugs and I can't get them off without elaborate pneumatic wrenches and ****.
edlib
I hear that. I need to get a real jack and tire wrench one of these days. The cheap little kits that come with the car are always sketchy at best.
Keyan Farlander
...you guys are loosening the nuts before you jack up the car, right?
edlib
Yep. Didn't help much. But to be fair... I got 4 of the lugs loose before I encountered the security lug that stymied me. It's just that those 4 were far more difficult to get loose than they ever should have been. And that tiny little jack just scared the hell outta me. Nute Gunray
I remember my dad and I changing a tire on his old pick-up a few years ago and the lugs were on so tight that we actually pulled the truck off the jack trying to loosen them by hand. A "few" years. It had to be before 1997! That's when he got rid of that thing.

Keyan Farlander
So my company sent a group of us down to Washington D.C. yesterday to do a Habitat for Humanity thing, and help build some houses for poor people. I'm pretty sure that at the end of the day we were actually less done with the houses than at the beginning of the day. So I guess the only thing we accomplished was to keep poor people out of decent housing for a while longer than they would have been if we had done nothing. Oh well, at least it was nice to get out of the office for a day.
Nute Gunray
I never do Habitat for Humanity because I sure as hell wouldn't live in a house I built, let alone make someone else. I know what sort of shoddy work I do.
edlib
Burnt out beyond belief... 3 long, overtime days and very late nights back-to-back-to-back this week. Fun stuff. A morning meeting and 2 jazz trios on Wednesday; Porcupine Tree, with Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew (from King Crimson) on Thursday night; and Al DiMeola last night. One day off, then Aaron Neville tomorrow... It's gonna be a busy month...
Rogue15
went hunting friday and yesterday. Saw 1 doe on friday while walking around. Yesterday I scaled another mountin close by, saw nothing but squirrels though. I found a small field on the top of the mountain, kinda freaked me out thinking i was trespassing on someone else's property so i walked in it anyway, and found some dog poop. prolly coyote. so i'll have to try out my predator calls next time i go there...that is, after i have gone deeper into the forest. I'm about halfway through the fellowship of the rings book. It's starting to get really good. At the part where they meet Strider. I bought The Open Door by Evanescence. It's just as good as Fallen. Wish I could see her live, tho i heard its not as good or something about her voice being better digitally enhanced or something but who cares. My cold is almost gone, still lingering. Most noticable when I first get up. Fired about 100 .22 rounds yesterday, getting ready for saturday, which is the first day of squirrel season here. Gonna bring in 6. The best part is skinning and cleaning them...might get evil and use the guts for coyote bait. mwahaha.
Zargon
I'm with Nute on Habitat, that I dont see why these people get to live in 'nicer bigger' houses than people that pay way more taxes than they do in a year, but I'ma prick sometimes! I went down on my sportbiek last week at 40 avoiding a guy who came into my lane across a double yellow, so I'm limping a bit, but the bike just has sctratches......... And I predict I shall be seriously shopping for wife acquisition hardware in a year, and have most of the $$$ I want to spend on it by then... is that 2 months salary thing still the general rule?
