Yeah, nobody bothered to update what happened to Canada's Hockey team in the last two games...errr...

Well, we did well against Switzerland (49 shots) but couldn't score due to the incredible performance of Martin Gerber, the Swiss goalie. He was simply amazing. So we lost 2-0.

However, against Finland...there was no Canadian team on the ice. None. A quite embarassing 2-0 defeat.

I have my reasons for why I did update. I think you know why? It's like Salt Lake again. O no!

Yeah lol, I remember, Canada had serious problem at the beginning of the competition in Salt Lake too and ended winning gold anyway... So I'm not panicking just yet. :D

And lets hope for a gold medal in women hockey later today! :emodanc:

Yeah lol.

Did you hear about all the insult emails the team got from CANADIANS (mostly) saying they shouldn't steamroll their opponents like that? All I have to say to these people is: read my lips, it's a friggin' C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N, geez! Wouldn't it be even more insulting to the opposing team if team Canada had laid off? That's like saying to them "You guys suck so much and we're so superior we're giving you chances". I know I'd hate it even more. Bah...

when they were playing Italy, they gave them icing so that they could shift and rest...and the more they win by the better chance of getting home ice advantage.

well the canadian womens hockey won gold today. not too happy about the mens. they havent scored yet in there like last 2 games. i think that there too confident that they'll win and that there just not being too serious. cuz the teams they played (Switzerland and Finland) they had nothing to lose so they just did there best and won.

Yeah...well, Canada hasn't done very well in the tournament anyway. I blame Gretzky. He made some pretty bad choices.

why blame gretzky? blame the coaches.

thats what you get when you say to not worry and be too confident in yourself. Russia had an 8-6 edge over canada.

i believe Canada deserved to lose, teach them a lesson to not be so confident and say that theres nothing wrong, we'll pull threw.

well, GO SWEDEN GO! (are they in the quart-finals?)

I blame who ever didn't play Staal. :xp: Anyway, look on the bright side, we won 2 golds and a silver and another medal I think. Wow! Cindy Klassen is quite impressive so far and she still has another event. Plus we have beaten our dismal record of 17 medals in the Winter Olympics. So far, this Olympics has been an improvement....except for the hockey team.

Why not blame Gretzky? From the beginning, there was lots of talk about why some players were in and some were left out. Seriously, guys like Jason Spezza, Alex Tanguay or Sidney Crosby should've been in. I mean, Bertuzzi? Doan? Come on. I didn't disagree with all of his choices, but some were glaringly bad.

Then there was the defense, whose weakness was shown in the game against Finland. Well, it was before, but it became a bit more obvious. They're big and bloody slow. The Finns were outmaneuvering Canada's defense.

And today, look at the amazing speed of the Russian attack with Ovechkin or Malkin. Compare it to Canada. So yeah, St Louis is fast...Prime pointed out the problem earlier in the thread.

Then again, there was the overconfidence and the "I don't care" factor. When you have a team of veterans who already have won the medal last time, they're not as motivated as the younger ones who really want it.

So yeah, people here said, there was nothing wrong that we would get back in the game, that some of us overreacted...well, we didn't since we were right to overreact.

[/rant]

So anyway, the Olympics are over for me since my team lost and I don't care for the rest. I'm getting back to following european soccer.

Agreed. Pronger was also disappointing too. Maybe b/c his injury but ya, our d is so slow. Yes, I think also that Crosby and Tanguay should have made the teams, it probably would've boosted there hockey careers, especially if they one. I honestly thought Bertuzzi played decent and Doan too. I think our defence was pitiful. Plus, Dion Phaneuf should have been there too.

I blame Quinn. Did he do any coaching? Did they make any adjustments over the past few games? Did they have any powerplay strategy?

Agreed. They never made any adjustments. PL\lus I also think players like Shannan and Kariya should have been on the team. Because of Kariya speed and he's a veteran and Shannan b/c he has a lot of experience in those types of situtions. Meh. I guess I'll have to watch Curling now.

Yay Apolo Anton Ohno!!! :clap2:

He got the gold medal for men's short track 500m speedskating, and a bronze in the short-track relay. Relay short-track speedskating is one crazy race, too. :D

I was happy in women's figure skating to see both Irina Slutskaya and Sasha Cohen pick themselves up after falls, not give up, and finish their programs strong enough to medal.

I'm wondering how other countries are reporting (if at all) on Bode Miller and his failure to medal in any of the alpine skiing events? The press in the US played him up so much as the guy who could win all 5 alpine events. I wouldn't have had an issue if he looked like he tried his very best, but it looked sometimes like he was holding back just a little, or just not able to give it absolutely everything he possibly could. I could be misinterpreting that, though.

I'm just sorry that it's going to be over tomorrow!
