Darth_Malak02
OMG...I am soo glad, My dad just told me that we are getting verizon Fios. It's lowest dl rate is supposed to be 2Mbps...My cisco teacher just told me that you have to provide your own virus protection. but I have two questions...1: what virus protection should i get? and 2: are there any good free virus blockers out there? p.s. I'm sooooo happy about the Fios, every room in the house, (with a computer in it) is getting Fios. That means I get Fios, my bro gets Fios, and my parents get Fios. OMJ!!! by the way...omj is oh my jesus, instead of oh my god. its an inside joke and i was hoping to start a new fad with it...

Det. Bart Lasiter
It's lowest dl rate is supposed to be 2Mbps... The download speed is limited by the server you're downloading from though, no matter what kind of connection you have. For instance, I have an 8 Mbps (downstream) connection and can download from some servers at 6-8 Mbps, however on servers that limit the speed of it's connections, my download speed will drop to dial-up speeds It's just a matter if which servers limit their connections' speed once you get past 3-4 Mbps. Any online gaming you do will (should) be completely lag-free though
ChAiNz.2da
Looks pretty sweet, especially since it's Fiber-Optic.. way kewl As for Virus Programs ("anti" that is hehehe) I personally use Trend Micro's PC-Cillin along with dedicated (and seperate) Firewalls both software & hardware (router)... Though there are TONS of great anti-virus progs out there.. McAfee & Norton are 2 of the biggest names you'll come across in your search
The Seeker
the antivirus that I use AVG free edition. Awesome antivirus It works like a dream for me, and I have found hogs far fewer resources than the popular competitors like Norton and McAfee. toms
I use AVG free, and its pretty good. Though I've heard good things about Avast recently (also free). The one thing you need (if you don't have it already) on broadband is a decent firewall. Everyone loves zonealarm (though i think its an overly bloated system resource hog). There are a few other more lightweight firewalls out there.. but the companies keep discontinuing them in favour of bloatware. I was using Kerio 2 (which was great but now discontinued i think). I'm now using Sygate.. which i think is also about to be discontinued. So if anyone knows of another lightweight firewall???
Zappa_0
I didnt think you needed a virus protector when you was using the company that has Vader on the payroll. Verizon Personal: Weve got a virus, its coming from member IHateTheEmpire@verizon.com Vader: Send a fleet of the Empires best to destroy the Rebels trying to destory the Empire.
