ChAiNz.2da
This is a video of a multi-input touch screen that hopefully will make its way into consumer computer market in time. A standard touch screen allows one input at a time. This allows multiple people to use it and allows for Minority Report like features. Super Cool I have got to get one of these! The video is quite long.. but you've got to watch all of it just to see how amazing this thing is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-y3ZNaCqs
Astrotoy7
the size is an advantage, though I have seen not too disimilar things done with a tablet pc ...well obviously you;d be getting one via your workplace because one of those things would be worth crazy $$$ for the average person... I dont think theyd be appropropriate for everyone thoigh, the amount you have to flap you arms to achieve certain tasks compared to the click and drag of a mouse makes it ergonomically a bit fortuitous. This is particularly important for disabled and older clients with limited mobility in their upper limbs. As I have found out through my work as a physical therapist, not all people on computers are 1337 g4m3rz or creative industry hotshots geek wow factor = 10/10 though mtfbwya

Sabretooth
There are things that are uber and there are things that are uberuber. This falls into the second category. And I need one in my hands before I die.
Astrotoy7
bah. touch screens. Ive got one in my car, and on my pda... what I would really like, which was also in Minority Report was 3d projection. Imagine >next gen playing games with such a display eg. *sitting in your comfy beanbag. your POV is the cockpit of your xwing. Look ahead and beside...you...a flight of xwings and ywings(all your friends - playing MP/co-op) and you are attcking the DS1 or in the Battle of Endor etc = awesomez. Now THATs fun, bugger flipping photos around or merging digital globs of goo on a touchscreen mtfbwya

REDJOHNNYMIKE
If you were actually going to use 3-D projection as well, I'd say the ideal application would pit X_Wings, Vipers, and Star Furies against TIEs, Cylons, and Interceptors with one base being DS1 and the other being Babylon5 with Battlestars and Star Destroyers as playable capital ships. The touch screens would still be implemented as well, each side having several A.I. controllers (actually real people though) using them to maneuver fleets of NPC fighters in tactical symphonies with the Player ships, and govern general organization. Cygnus Q'ol
Although the "oooh, ahhh" factor of the sparkley, touchy screen is very high, I would think my hands being in the way of the screen would hinder the visual effect of the gaming experience. At least the games we now have available. I do see serious medical, engineering, astrophysical, and military uses for this type of computer/human interaction though. Now, Astrotoy7's idea of a 3-D projection setup sounds heavenly.
