Commander Obi-Wan
Now now, let's not say anything we may regret. What if someone who was blind were to come onto Lucasforums and read this topic? We don't want to offend them. Nice.

MrWally
Who knows... maybe someone'll find a cure for blindless! [/not really] 80 years ago who'd have thought where would be a cure for Tuberculosis?
RoxStar
Tell me... why you, 14 years old, are driving anywhere? He sort of lets himself go sometimes... @ Wally- Penicillin was discovered 77 years ago
MrWally
He sort of lets himself go sometimes... shhhhhh! *shifty eyes* Anyways, even 80 years ago only a few select scientists had any idea knowledge about Penicillin. The point remains the same. Our technology is developing so fast... who knows where we will be in twenty years? Who knows, maybe we'll have invented a starship with a hyperdrive
Acrylic
Do I need to remind you that I'm not a geologist, statistician, philosopher, geologer, jazz historian, chemist, physicist, or psychologist? Like said before, we all take pointless classes. But no matter, all people would (most likely) be able to do that. Drivers ed for blind people is pointless. They can not, and never will (unless some how miraculously cured) drive. It doesn't make sense., and is really pointless. It's basically like the school telling you, "I don't care if you will ever have the ability to do it or not, you have to take a test on it" It'd depress me if I was blind
The Seeker
Exactly what I was getting at early on. There is a difference in classes that suck, because you will never use the information, and classes that are pointless because you physically can't use the information. Anyone who has to study all those that ET posted has the choice of whether to use the information in their lives or not, thereby making the studies valid or not. A blind kid studying drivers ed doesn't have that choice.
TK-8252
It'd depress me if I was blind Anyone who has to study all those that ET posted has the choice of whether to use the information in their lives or not, thereby making the studies valid or not. Because all we need in the world is a bunch of oceanographers and geologists, right? No need for mechanics, plumbers, and electricians...
Acrylic
You musta taken that the wrong way. I meant, taking that class would depress me if I was blind. It'd be like a guy hanging a plate with a beautiful meal in front of you and you can't quite reach it. It's like, "Haha! You won't ever be able to drive, but you're gonna learn this stuff anyways for no reason!" But maybe it'd only be like that for a person like me. manoman81
F'ing duh!!! Cleaned up for the underagers Yeah, I took some classes that were pointless and really had no bearing on my degree. However, though maybe one day blind people might be able to see, as of right now, it is pretty darn pointless to require blind students pass a driving class. I mean, seriously, I was worried when I saw some deaf students driving at my high school (no offense to anyone that might be deaf, but these kids were not among the brightest at all). narfblat
Do I need to remind you that I'm not a geologist, statistician, philosopher, geologer, jazz historian, chemist, physicist, or psychologist? And why is that - are you physically limited from any of those? And were those electives, or required for every student? And how am I to know that you aren't a Jazz Historian? ET Warrior
And why is that - are you physically limited from any of those? And were those electives, or required for every student? Why does it matter if I have a physical limitation or not? If I'm physically limited or mentally determined to NOT do those things, those classes are equally as useless. Some of those classes are required, some were required electives, so it was either take them, or take something else equally as useless.
The Seeker
Wow guys, I am ever so impressed. You have officially turned a funny irony into a thread worthy of the Senate, complete with circuitous arguments, and each person arguing the exact same point over and over and over again. Never thought I'd have to whip this out in one of my own threads, but... Lady Jedi, you may close at your leisure.
