MrWally
Yes.It.Does. =P That lighting looks absolutely incredible! Maybe we'll finally get to play a game with "fully interactive and destructable enviornments"! *coughBLACKcoughcough*
manoman81
Yeah, I just saw this earlier today too. It's pretty! Those clouds alone look great. Too bad you will need DX 10 which will only work for Windows Vista.

BongoBob
I think he meant FPS game, but ah well. Saw some screens of this in a computer gaming mag a month ago. Awsome to finally see a movie of it

IG-64
Sad how they waste all the good engines on more FPS games. You point and shoot at things and they die and blood comes out of their bodies. It's not that exciting anymore. Good engine though.
The Seeker
Sad how they waste all the good engines on more FPS games. You point and shoot at things and they die and blood comes out of their bodies. It's not that exciting anymore. Good engine though. SACRILIGE!!!!! Yeah, a good RPG is always fun, but they take so much time to play. Pick your character, pick you class, grind enemies to level up, run errands to get information and level up. Fun, but they tend to steal my life away because I'm susceptible to tedious good times. DON'T LOOK AT ME, I'M WEAK!! Now, a good FPS (good meaning NOT based in WWII) you can pick up, put down and go to work/school and pick up right where you left off without missing a beat. Plus, when you shoot things, they die and blood comes out of their bodies. Republic Commando jumps to mind as the most recent good FPS I played. It was fast paced, had good commands for responsive teammates, and great melee attacks. (Bug guts on your visor when you stick a geonosian.) Ahhh, good times. Now, back on track. That is one helluva good lookin engine. Can't wait to see how it plays.
Sabretooth
Yeah, this thing looks real hawt. I'll try to get it, though I believe my system won't handle it.
Darth Groovy
Crytek is the same gang that developed Far Cry. After playing that game, i'd say they got the upper hand and they know what they are doing. The only other game that impressed me that much as far as graphics go is Half Life 2. BTW, Far Cry Instincts: Predator for XBOX 360, and Far Cry Instincts: Evolution for XBOX both released today.

Too bad you will need DX 10 which will only work for Windows Vista. Seeing as FarCry is now on the XBox you think this will be released on the X360 before the launch of Vista? Darth Groovy
Far Cry already released on the 360 dude. Release date was 3-28-06.
MrWally
I'm talking about the game Crytek is creating. Not Farcry.

MrWally
They are. And since Crytek released FarCry on the 360 do you think the game they are currently developing using the CryEngine2 will also be released on the 360? Seeing as if it is exclusive to the PC it most likely won't be out for a while. Any thoughts?
Tokarev
I thought they were both created by crysis. Depends on which Far Cry you may be referring.. Since much of the rights and so on are in Ubisoft's hands (from which I have heard), I've heard the Xbox games were not by Crytech at all.. RoxStar
XBOX 360 - DirectX 9 PS3- OpenGL PC-DirectX 10 ^ I picked that up from somewhere. Thats what Crytek is going to do for Crysis.

Darth Groovy
I'm talking about the game Crytek is creating. Not Farcry. My mistake, sorry about that. It will be interesting to see what they do with the Crytek engine AFTER the Far Cry sequals.
Sabretooth
Holy crap indeed, but it looks like a system raper. So does UT2007, and Gears of War, and just about any next-gen game. It looks like it's time to go big with the upgrades - or dump your PCs and get those consoles! *runs*
toms
I was surprised that I haven't seen the farcry (cryengine 1) engine used in anything up to now - it always struck me that they marketed Farcry as much as a engine demo as as a game (though it was an awesome game indeed) and wanted to get into the engine licensing business like Unreal and ID(Doom/Quake). I guess that now Ubisoft has the rights to all things farcry and to the cryengine1 it might start appearing in a few ubi games. cryengine 2 looks awesome, and i'm interested to see what crytek can do with it in crysis - but i think its a shame the seem to have gone for a really generic "battlefield 2042" setting. I for one won't be getting vista any timein the next 5 years - so if it doesn't get ported to dx9 or a console i won't get to play it.

I thought about Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as well as BF2142 when I saw that. I bet someone someone will be able to make Crysis DX9 compatible or force it to use DX9 shaders, as occured when someone forced BF2 to use DX8 shaders. Darth Groovy
There is a nice article on Crysis in the April issue of Game Informer. Looks quite promissing.
