The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I tried looking for one online, but none of the searches I did came up with anything usefull. I need a file conversion program that lets me convert .avi files into .gif format. Does such a program even exist? Thanks in advance, ~The Doctor
Alkonium Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Well, Bink & Smacker tools might work for that, I know it works for anything else.
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 No, I mean an actual .avi file. I can't see it's individual frames, just the video.
stingerhs Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 well, i can tell you right away that you won't find one since you're talking about two very different formats. *.avi files are video files. *.gif files are image files. although .gif files can be animated, all it's really doing is showing a series of images in a certain sequence on a specific time interval. your best bet would be to take screenshots of whatever moment in the .avi file you want and combine them into a .gif file.
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Is there some way to derive the frames from the .avi file without having to do screenshots? And yes, I mean an animated gif.
Samnmax221 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I assumed he wanted to copy frames from an AVI. guesse I was wrong
Alkonium Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Either a simple conversion with BINK, or stick it in a program for Flash and save it as a .gif.
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Where would on locate such a program? 'Program for Flash' doesn't sound like a good search criteria...
Alkonium Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 By a Flash program I mean the official program from Macromedia: Macromedia Flash MX, which I think is fairly expensive.
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Well, I have very little money at the moment (something along the lines of $3.20). Is there any free downloadable program I could use?
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Then where can I download this 30 day trial?
The Doctor Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Unfortunately, that program won't open .avi files. EDIT: Never mind, I found the conversion tool. Thanks a lot! I'll let you know if it turns out!
Astrotoy7 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 i use gif movie gear for such things. its easy to use - and really good for making sigs and avvies. mtfbwya
