Only the fastest drawer in the west. Only the only man who candraw faster than his own shadow. Only the man who always smokes a self-wrapped cigarette while doing everything. Only the man who rides Jolly Jumper. Only... Well, you get the picture :p

Lucky Luke r0x0rz too

Actually, he quit smoking a long time ago, I gave kids a bad influence ;)

I also used to read the comics and watch the Lucky Luke cartoons when I was younger. There's event an album of Luky Luke in Québec, featuring Céline Dion and Robert Charlebois :p

I think that after all those years I still know them by heart. My dad used to buy me one album every 2/3 weeks when I was 6-7yrs old and I've read them all multiple times in French (some books are falling apart from over-use). I've also read a few ones in Spanish. I still have all the books, even those made after Goscinny's death and when a new one comes out, I buy it. Unfortunately, while Uderzo's drawings are still excellent his writing talent is far from Uderzo's. I miss Uderzo's fine play of words :(

Btw, there's a complete list of the original French names on this site: http://www.mage.fst.uha.fr/asterix/perso/persoidx.html

What coupes. said. They replaced the cigarette with a piece of straw a while back.

I've read the Lucky Luke's comics too and watched the cartoons during xmas time when I was a kid (there were lucky luke and Astérix xmas specials) :D

You mean Goscinny's fine play of words. ;) And I very much agree with you.

Holy ****. J'habitais en France quand j'avais quatre ans. :D Now my french sucks though... anyway, I had all the Asterix books as a kid, along with Lucky Luke, and another one that was about a boy and his dog...Boule et Bill? Something like that. They were all awesome.

Yes, Boule et Bill it is... that was nice too, but not as good as Asterix or Lucky Luke. I remember reading some Boule et Bill albums as a kid. I loved Boule's little friend named Pouf, with his hair over his eyes :p And Boule's turtle, Caroline I beleive...

Bill and Pouf would always try to get Boule's attention... good times ;)

One of my favorie comics however, was Gaston Lagaffe, the lousiest, laziest inventor around. Always trying to find a way to avoid working, but alway ending up screwing up and pissing Fantasio off :p

I read both Lucky Luke and Asterix. (I think Asterix is a little better) I have some and I'd like to get more, (don't have enough:() it's just difficult to find some. But does anybody here read Garfield? In my opinion that's the best cartoon, been ordering them from year 1998, or was it 99?

Yes ! I love Garfield. I started ordering them in 1997 I think, but my father used to buy me old ones too from the 80's and early 90's.

Great reading at the bathroom :D

I've never found a Metro Nemi even remotely funny. always wondered if it was something in the translation. then again, humout is very subjective so maybe it is just me.

However, in purely unbiased, scientific measurements it has been proven that:

1) Nemi doesn't have t-rex in jet fighters

2) Therefore Nemi isn't as cool as Calvin & Hobbes

3) See (1)

Gaston was one of my favorites too. Those comics were hilarious. I liked how he always managed to get away with "agent longtarin" too. I have this desktop wall paper on my office laptop: http://www.gastonlagaffe.com/sitefr/imagefr/goodies/fond_1024_1.jpg

Wow.

You're pretty much the only people I've ever met who don't like Nemi.

Yes, it might be the translation. It's pretty bad. Or it might be a cultural difference. Meh.

I never have found the actual humour in it. And it's published in those girly teen magazines in Finland so I rarely even read them because of that.

I'll stick to what I know, which is; Hägar the Horrible, Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, Lucky Luke, Asterix, Donald Duck(Especially Don Rosa's. I have all his comic books and by book I mean Book), B.Virtanen, etc.
