I finally watched the entire Cowboys v Seahawks game and I have to say.

I'm impressed at how well the cowboys did with out thier first string recievers, using thier back up QB (who until that game was unproven), and no set running back as of yet.

it sounds like TO might be able to play on monday night.

and while romo made some inpressive throughs, thier back up recievers made some rather impressive catches.

bears vs. chargers halftime and no points from the no.1 offense! still, this is a little closer to the bears offense i'd like to see. grossman is still rough around the edges and the offensive line is breaking down a little too often. also, we still haven't got a real look at the running game, but i think we'll be fine in that area. that interception in the endzone was really dissapointing... i hope grossman can make better choices when it really counts; he was really moving the chains there for a moment. the bears defense really shaped up, though.

but, hey, remember the colts's preseason last year? they went 0-4, but then had that cute little winning streak when the regular season came around. i'm hoping the bears offense keeps improving and is solid by the regular season.

ok, i'm done ranting.

on a final note, GO BEARS!

Nice interception and runback by Urlacher, too. :)

Edit: Bears win against Chargers, 24-3!! :) Davis ran a kick-off back for 100 yards, and Griese looked good again this week. Grossman played better, and even Orton got some good time in. Missed tackles were an obvious problem this week. Special teams did well. :)

I watched the Bears game, they had a pretty good game, their defense won it for them as usual, and if I were the Bears I'd start Griese for the next 2 preseason games, for 2 reasons. One, I'd like to see how Griese responds to being a starter, will he drive the team down the field for a score and make a statement or will he go 3 and out, I want to see if he can be a leader. Two, maybe starting Griese will finally light a fire under Grossman's... butt and we'll see him perform like he's capable of. Anyway, enough talk about the Bears :xp:, on to my team.

So, I am still thoroughly impressed by what Jay Cutler has done so far this preseason, provided it is not some fluke, and it doesn't appear to be, he could have a very bright career ahead of him. He has a short quick release and the ball has some zip on it, we've seen him force the ball into tight places and show some touch on his passes both with success, I'm very excited about that guys future. Also in this last game, we finally got to see what Mike Shanahan saw in the undrafted rookie from U of A Mike Bell. Granted the Broncos offense as far as the run game is very plug n' play if you will, but Mike Bell has the runnig style that fits into the Broncos zone blocking system. One cut downhill running, hit the hole quick and get yards. I'm very excited to see how the Broncos do this year.

Oh, the choices--watch Bears pre-season, or the Cubs/Cardinals game? It'd probably be a slam dunk if the Cubs were actually in the running, but I'm feeling the call of the Bears.... Thank goodness we have 2 TVs. Jimbo and I don't have to fight over the remote that way. :D

Grossman and the number one offense finally looked good in last night's preseason game. They still couldn't finish, though (mostly due to really frustrating false start penalties) and only came away with a couple feild goals. Once again, Griese was pretty much amazing for the ten or fifteen minutes he was out there. It would be nice if we could get our running game in full swing before the regular season starts as well. The defense was very sloppy, but I think that was mostly due to several of their starters being benched. The Bears have made many, many mistakes in the preseason so far. I just hope that we're getting all our stupidness and injuries out and over with before the regular season starts.

Grossman looked better, but still rough around the edges. Griese played like he's dying to have the starting job. Talk about penalties during that game, though. I think there were 3 in a row at one point. What really made me upset was we got a 1st down because of Cardinals interference, and then we gave it right back to them with 2 offsides. Ugh.

I don't think the D was playing it's hardest, either, but that could be because it's pre-season and the games don't mean anything. Too many missed tackles on both sides of the ball, too. Corners played a little better, at least didn't get outrun, but I really didn't see much of the 1st half.

I wasn't too sure about Grossman playing after seeing Griese's performance, but after this week, I'm a little more hopeful, since they keep saying Grossman's the starter.

T. Jones is supposed to be the starter now at RB.

I told you all that should start Griese. I've seen nothing from Grossman to get excited about. To me it seems like the entire offense gets a little pick-me-up when Griese enters the game, and it is those sort of intangibles that you can't coach or teach. Anyway, I'm so bummed, the Broncos, my team, come to play their last pre-season game in Arizona on the 31st. Of course however, I have school... :swear:

I've been a Grossman supporter since the beginning. I know his work ethic, arm strength and attitude are all top notch.

He's had a rough beginning to his career with season ending injuries occuring in his first two years. I still think he's got alot of potential and sooner or later it's going to surface.

That being said, it better surface quickly or be lost. The Bears don't have time to surrender another season trying to develop quarterbacks.

This defense is hot right now and they plan to be for a few years yet.

The Bears have to strike while the iron is hot. They have to learn how to score better while they have a high calibur D.

Griese seems to be producing better right now, and nothing against him, but he's been going against second and third string defenses.

If I were Lovie Smith, first I would change my name, then I would start Griese in this last pre-season game and let him show what he's got with the starters. Then I'd be in a better position to make a decision.

Regardless of what they say in Chicago, there is a QB controversy.

I surely hope it's settled before they roll into Lambeau.

I'd be willing to bet that Griese will start, but most likely he wont be with the starting core and he likely wont face the opponents' starting D, tradition pretty much says that week 4 of the preseason is a bye week for projected starters.

  • 2 weeks later...

Alrighty. The season is under 24 hours till the game starts. So what are your picks for the opening week, and the season-opener.

For the Dolphins and Steelers game, I'd say the Dolphins will be victorious, due to the fact that Roeslithberger with not be playing from my knowledge. Otherwise, if he was I'd've selected the Steelers. I also think Culpepper will have a decent start as a Dolphin.

My dad, who grew up in the Chicago suburbs, was a Bears fan. We girls had to learn to a. like football and b. love Da Bears if we wanted to spend any time with him on Sunday afternoons. :D Plus, I got to see Walter Payton play. You couldn't watch that man play on a regular basis and be anything but a Bears fan, he was that good of a running back. He was unbelievable.

While I am no Bear's fan. I will never forgive Mike Ditka for letting William 'the refrigerator" Perry get the rushing touchdown in Super Bowl XLI. Sweetness should have had it for all the things he put up with the Bears. But no Mike would rather do the gimmick play.

Even without Big Ben tonight we should win. I expect that we will make the playoffs. However I doubt we will repeat as Super Bowl Champs.

I know the Lions are going to lose their first game (against the Seahawks :o) though I'll still root for them, but I'm really hoping the Bengals can start off right and beat the Chiefs at Kansas City. Carson Palmer is fully recovered it seems and even at Arrowhead, which is considered by many the toughest stadium to play at, I think as long as the Bengals can hold the chiefs to a reasonable amount of points they can walk out victorious.
