ok so apparently its only out for ps3 nd xbox but NO PC AHHH! (so thts completely wrong it would lose at least half of its audience if it did so)

The the developer is Obsidian (If it comes out this will probably be the case but if it was true would it not be on their website?)

Apparently now its an action game as well (will never happen why fix something tht isnt broke?)

all rumor and hearsay...

The article(s) are from way back in January & March (the other article is from January of '05) and has been all but abolished afterwards. ;)

There is no "Official" news whatsoever of an actual KotOR 3 as of yet. Trust us...

While it does sound true keep in mind that no official announcement has been made and as such, KOTR 3 remains little more than a hope. If we hear any new rumors on this popular Star Wars title we'll let you know.

No. The console community is far larger than the PC community. Even KOTOR made most of its money from XBox.

The first part of that statement isn't entirely true. Sure, if you add up all the gamers on Xbox, PS2/3, Nintendo, etc.. then yeah, there's a bigger 'community' there. Considering though the number of games which are exclusive to one of those systems, you can't really consider all consoles as a "community", but rather have to take them as individual communities of themselves.

Doing that, I would still say there are more PC gamers than any one console out there, unless I saw some hard official figures to prove otherwise.

The second part of that of course being that you can't base it on any one game's sales either. Take KOTOR for example... Part (though admittedly not all) of the reason the game did so much better in terms of sales on the Xbox was due to the Xbox release being half a year ahead of the PC version.

There's a lot of other factors involved too, but again, one game's sales aren't a good measure of which community is 'bigger'. Some games are just inherently better on a console and then some are far superior on a PC.

Either way, I seriously doubt they'll opt not to release the thing on either side of the fence. The resources to make a port from console to PC (or vice versa) are far less than to develop the game in the first place, so such a port is really only in their best interest from a dollar perspective, which like it or not, is inevitably what all the big game houses are after.

And as has already been said... these early rumors mean precisely diddly, so I'm not going to pay them any heed regardless. We'll get the real story sooner or later, and then we can all start crying about how long we have to wait.. what platform(s) it's on, blah blah blah. ;)

But the current trend is to release on all three platforms and it seems to keep going that way for the future. There might be little difference left in a few years.

The issue seems to be on the use of the word "community". Replace it with market and it makes it a lot clearer. There is not a single doubt that the console market, even taken individually, is much larger then the PC market. If we consider that the consumer is rational, in other words, tries to optimize his gains, getting one or two consoles ends up costing less then an average gaming PC for much better rewards.

Even then, making games for consoles seems to be what companies want now and that's a decent indicator of the power of the consoles or the PC.

Meh. There's no way LA is going to throw away the money there is to be made from the PC market, especially as both the previous games in the series were released on PC. Won't happen.

QFT I use my PC for more than playing games and surfing the interweb. The money I have made off of has more than paid for my upgrades. I refuse to buy an console for one or two games. Plus console game are more expensive then PC games especially if you wait a little while.

Fair enough. Poor choice of words by me. I ment more "populations." :)

Just to back up what Prime said, The latest numbers I've found show KotOR for the Xbox at 1.3 million units sold. I haven't been able to find any hard numbers for the PC but if comments made by BioWare reps of total KotOR sales of 2 million units are accurate then that would put the PC version at around 700,000 units sold, or not quite a 2:1 ratio in favor of the Xbox version. Interestingly enough KotOR: TSL is probably around 1.5 million total units sold with 785,000 of those units the Xbox version, much closer to a 1:1 ratio.

I don't know whether or not there are more PC gamers than any one console. However based off sales revenue the PS 2 peeps seem to spend more on their games than the PC peeps. :)According to NPD research published on the ESA's website total U.S. PC game sales for 2005 were USD$953 million while sales of console games were USD$6.06 billion, over 6 times the revenue generated by PC games. And based off other information I've read I would say the PS 2 has close to half of that $6 billion, followed by the Xbox with around $1.5 billion give or take, and the remainder split between Nintendo and various other consoles.

Overall it looks to me like the PC games segment ranks 3rd in terms of overall market share, behind PS 2 and Xbox/Xbox 360, at least for 2005 anyway.

P.S. I'm a PC gamer with an Xbox that collects dust the vast majority of the time. :D
