Dagobahn Eagle
Apparently, Vista will have a built-in Engrish feature! Watch and muse.
Samnmax221
I think this came up before when we were discussing Vista, at any rate I've seen it before.
jebbers
I like the way the camera man gets the extreme close up of his mouth and then pans out. And I think was posted a while back if I'm not mistaken.
Datheus
It's a humorous video, but I've used the speech recognition. If you have a decent mic and speak as clearly as the guy in the video did, it works quite well. It also helps to pause between commands.
MrWally
Yeah, I saw it somewhere as well. Is OTM a trustworthy source? I've never heard of it before. While the closeup on the mouth may be a cool effect, it's something that a normal news organization would never do...
jon_hill987
LOL! Voice recognition is always rubbish. I can't use the "voice calculation" training program in Brain age on my DS because it cannot understand me when I say "six", it is fine with other numbers though. BTW: there is a "best of youtube" thread for posting stuff like this.
Datheus
How well do they localize voice recognition? Maybe they go with a flat American Mid-West accent. Perhaps that's what makes it so hard for the DS to understand your voice, jon.

narfblat
Probably, how should I pronounce six to make it understand me then? Try talking like a machine. It may actually help, though - talking in an "electronic" voice may be more recognizeable for the software, and may help supress any accents. Alegis
It's quite old, the speech recognition in RTM vista is quite lovely. I don't use it often for dictation though, but when I did its rather accurate and especially easy to correctify. Use it mostly for launch applications or folders. Because it's very handy and fast, but also because it's completely awesome. Going to check if I can replace 'open' by 'launch', because launch is even more awesome command. "Launch xfire" ! jon_hill987
Vista voice recognition will be use to hijack PC Good one, I can see an MP3 going round saying "Open, My Documents, Select all, Delete" only to have the computer open IE7 and go to www.let'sset.com
