Rogue15
Are the external usb harddrives good for gaming? I've about run out of room on my internal hard drive, and there's not enough room to install another internal drive (I've got a dell dimension 4700)....I'm considering picking up the 120 gig external usb hard drive at walmart. think it said 7200 rpsomethings on it. I just need to know if it will be just as good for installing games on as the internal hard drive.
ET Warrior
It shouldn't be much of a problem running games off of an external drive, assuming you have a pretty decent amount of memory. Load times and such might be a little longer, but in general any of the real-time activities should already be loaded up in memory.

Tyrion
I have 1 gigabyte of ram. Yup, load times will be a tad bit longer but overall game play will remain the same, although I'd advise to upgrade to 2 gigabytes anyway because games are becoming hogs. Boba Rhett
As long as you're using USB 2.0 it should be alright.
TSR
So does this mean you won't have to uninstall galaxies when you want to play WoW, and vice versa?
jon_hill987
I have heard that there are a few games where the copy protection makes them unplayable on an external drive, I can't remember which ones it is off hand though. It shouldn't be a problem though as with a bit of rearranging (if you do have one of those games) you can put them on the internal and the others on the external. And yes, USB 2.0 is a must unless you want load times that can be measured in hours.
TiE23
As long as your computer isn't older than like, 4 years, you should have USB 2.0 My crappy computer I only use for the internet has only USB 1.1, so it's hideously slow.
