What I miss about SWG...

Apart from venting on about NGE, what features, people, professions etc do you miss from the time you've been playing?

Personally, i really miss chasing Jedi when i was a Bounty Hunter/Rifleman. Having big fights with Jedi in starports with onlookers - so you know you just cant afford to lose. Tracking down a Jedi to a location, spending hours not moving, blinking even, until they appear...than BAM!

I also miss my friends. When i first started playing back in 2003 @ launch, the pvp battles at Anchorhead and Bestine would top 40 a side and were simply amazing.

I miss it all. The diversity that you could have, thought that wasn't neccessarily true. You could be a master musician but if you wanted to go have some pve fun you could gear up a sword and be master swordsman. I also miss the community we used to have as well. Yes, the game is slowly picking up a bit of a community, but it will never be liked it once was I'm afraid.

I'm slowly adjusting to NGE, despite missing my old vet days. Alot of people have managed to create Expertise templates to fill into old profession roles. Medic templates now include a TKA/Doc template, TK/carbineer, etc. but ya know. heh

I think the NGE was a kinda restart, although I aint played pre NGE, I think that in the coming chapters and updates, more diversity will come, allowing more freedom, so in a year or two, maybe with another expansion pack, it will be MUCH more diverse than now, and more people will have joined

I will try my best!

I miss logging in at any time of the day and seeing my friends list active. 9am or 3am, I could log in and get involved with something my friends were doing. There was always something to do, help collect resources for foods, buffs..anything. Hunt NS to [hopefully] collect that awesome loot item. As DMUK said, the awesome Bestine/AH battles..damn those were fun, used to go on for hours and days. Heck, I did quests when we didn't have to do them for xp.

This may sound weird, but I miss buff lines, the shuttle waits, having to visit an entertainer for wounds & battle fatigue.....so much opportunity for some great interaction with people. I made tons of friends just by doing those things.

I can't forget the hunting groups [not just for xp]. Shortly after relase, a guy on starsider, organized a large server-wide hunt to go and kill Krayt Dragons. There was like 100 plus people that went...and most everyone got freakin PWNT, but it was so great! :D Now, you can solo those things in like 3 minutes :/

Ok, I can't help myself....

What I miss the most is...on the back of the game box there is a saying that reads -

"Experience the Greatest Star Wars Saga Ever Told....YOURS"

The game was so open, you could do almost anything in the SW universe. There was no quest to follow, no set way of doing anything. It was living in the SW universe-you did things your way. If you wanted to be a bio-engineer, well that's great...good luck in your endevors.

Sadly, the game doesn't work like that anymore. I've tried to play the "NGE" but I just can't get into it and that's why I no longer play.

I totally agree. Group interaction was all part of the whole experience. The massive pvp battles were incredible - Doctors trying to revive fallen heroes in combat, AT-ST walkers firing at people - buff lines, stores full of stock, all has long gone from the original game, which made Galaxies worth logging on for every single day.

If they could bring all that back to the game, I am sure it will pick up

Well, to new people, all I can say is don't let this put you off, SWG is still AWSOME!!! And the main problem is the lack of people. So JOIN, and updates will come, giving more diversity

Tylea you have to listen that yes the game is very, very good but it was so much better! These people used to play the best super game ever! It's just a normal MMORPG now and they miss their game so they have the privelige (spelling) to rant on and dream about how good it was. Still it don't put me off i'm gonna join as soon as I can!

Hmmmmr, this is not a flame, but you really have no room to criticize other people's decisions about quitting if you haven't even played it.

Yes SWG is getting new players however at the same time just as many if not more are cancelling. The game hasn't had any real content added since ToOW was released. Even with the expertise system there is not much diversity, There have been no new quests, The GCW rewards are too hard to get. The one thing that made SWG what it was is the complexity however that is what MMO players want and with the NGE they removed that in order to atempt makeing a SWG clone of WoW because WoW was doing great in sales. In order for things to turn around they will need to put back in the game what it once had or it will continue to go down hill. Star Trek: Online is supposed to be out next year and if SWG hasn't gone full circle by then I see the game lose a lot more subscriptions. ST:O well have many features especialy for space that will sink SWG. For instance we have been waiting for capitol ships that have been promised by the dev team , well ST:O will start with the option where you could go solo and have your own ship with an npc crew or you could join a crew. Each ship station will be fully interactive a work. You can train in multiple fields instead of one profession. That is just the begining. So in the end this year could make or break SWG so the Dev teams from both sides need to put all their eggs in one basket and get the game going.
