DrPhil2501 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 *SPOILER WARNING!!!* I thought that we could discuss a few problems that need to be solved about the Monkey Island Games. First of all: The story about Captain Marley! In games 2 and 3, they say that he was racing his boat on the coast of America, after being pushed in a freakish whirlpool by LeChuck. But according to number 4, Herman Toothrot (Marley) says that Ozzie Mandrel was the one that puched his boat in the whirlpool. So... what the heck? (There will be other questions later)
Samnmax221 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 so i herd u liek mudkips, and lack patience.
Kjølen Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 There is probably a reason why you weren't answered right away, and double-posting is highly frowned upon. Also, we have a special forum for Monkey Island discussion. And for the record, it was to be assumed that LeChuck and Ozzy were working together even as far back as that, so it really doesn't matter who pushed who. Not to mention the fact that LucasArts doesn't seem to give a crap about the maintaining a canon storyline, and nor do we.
DrPhil2501 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 Yeah, I know! But I thought we could discuss hypothetical and probable answers to these sorts of questions. You know, sort of like chit chat! I mean its not like we are going to try and force Lucas Arts to maintain the story line.
itchythesamurai Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I'm perfectly fine with Kjølen's response.
Thrik Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 You're unlikely to get much of a response as issues such as the Herman continuity error have been discussed a gazillion times in this forum. If you do a search through past threads you're sure to find at least a few large ones based on it. Monkey Island discussion is awesome and all, but go for something that's a bit less obvious.
Samnmax221 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Monkey Island discussion is awesome and all, but go for something that's a bit less obvious. Like the possibility of Guybrush being a homosexual?
Thrik Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Or Jojo the Monkey being LeChuck's father. :¬: And Elaine the mother. :¬: :¬: :¬:
DrPhil2501 Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Okay, I get the point! Lets just drop the topic!
Samnmax221 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Lets just drop the topic! But you got us all excited.
Kjølen Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yeah, now we're horny for discussion. Break out the vaseline, this is going to be one helluva ride.
DrPhil2501 Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Um... oookay! Here's a question that is going to drive you crazy... no wait! Insane! According to M2 and 3, they say that H.T was racing his boat off the coast of America. Later on, in M4, they say that he was racing off the coast of Australia! So, what the hell?
Ray Jones Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Gee.. now he's doing it again. This has been discussed a gazibillion times already. Did nobody tell you? Just let it go, m'kay?
itchythesamurai Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm willing to accept a healthy blend of senility and voodoo as the answer.
Samnmax221 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Does Guybrush prefer Sardines or Buttsehks?
Fealiks Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Presumably it was in Australia, as HT himself said that. Then again, it could have been America. Of course, let's not rule out the possibility of it being Australia, but it COULD have been America. On the other hand, Australia is also where is could have been. Not ruling out the possibility that it was America, it probably was Australia. From another point of view, though, we see that it was clearly not Australia, it was America. Abandoning that point of view for a moment, though, let's say, for the sake of argument that it WAS Australia. Even now, it seems more likely that it was America. Or Australia, let's not foget that fine candidate. I think that about concludes your question.
Vikinor Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Or he could have raced his boat from the coast of America to the coast of Australia.
DrPhil2501 Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 A good and reasonable answer. And by the way... Gee.. now he's doing it again. This has been discussed a gazibillion times already. Did nobody tell you? Just let it go, m'kay? At first earlier on, I thought that you guys wanted me to "stay on topic". It appears I have been proven wrong. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME, GOOD PEOPLE? ME GOING INSANE!!!
DrPhil2501 Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Okay fine! We can talk about something else other than this stupid topic! Like... who the hell invented that stump joke? Or what the voodoo laddy's REAL name is. Or perhaps contemplate the meaning of life!
