Samuel Dravis Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Yes, Liechtenstein was invaded on Wednesday by Swiss troops. Apparently they just barely avoided a MAJOR international incident! Thankfully, the Swiss army retreated after figuring out that they were overmatched because they had forgotten their ammo. Good Job everyone, peace is restored! ROFL.
RoxStar Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Ha, sort of humorous. Oh, and @ the "nearly caused an international incident": Bollocks. No one cares about Lichtenstein. Only if the swiss ACTUALLY invaded it would there be problems. This isn't pre WWI people
Samuel Dravis Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 No one cares about Lichtenstein.I find your lack of humor disturbing, Roxstar! Isn't it obvious that invading 2 miles into another country is a little aggressive? And the Swiss are the perfect stike force, because no one would ever suspect them! ^_^ Anyways, it's a good thing cool heads (and empty chambers) prevailed. Otherwise there would've been some serious problems in the region. Nukular warfare prolly.
Samnmax221 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This is why I'm glad the Americas are far more spread out than Europe, if something like this happened to us they just might take it seriously.
Dagobahn Eagle Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This is why I'm glad the Americas are far more spread out than Europe, if something like this happened to us they just might take it seriously.I can picture US troops accidentally blundering into Cuba. That'd be fun. Oh, and Swiss is nearly totally neutral and not exactly at a state of war with Liechtenstein, so "major international incident" is taking it much too far.
Commander Obi-Wan Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Thankfully, the Swiss army retreated after figuring out that they were overmatched because they had forgotten their ammo. I probably wouldn't have heard about it if this wasn't posted here on LF. So, I don't see it much of a problem. But, hey, nothing happened. So, I am also cool with that.
Dagobahn Eagle Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Thankfully, the Swiss army retreated after figuring out that they were overmatched because they had forgotten their ammo. The Army version of the Swiss pocket knife probably contains weapons and ammo in addition to everyone else.
Samuel Dravis Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Oh, and Swiss is nearly totally neutral and not exactly at a state of war with Liechtenstein, so "major international incident" is taking it much too far.For the purposes of entertainment, nothing can be taken farther than the idea of Switzerland, who is unlikely to attack anyone, invading a singularly useless nation like Liechtenstein. Nothing! It's completely senseless, which is why it's so entertaining. This is why I'm glad the Americas are far more spread out than Europe, if something like this happened to us they just might take it seriously.Hehe. So far they haven't taken it seriously. The Army version of the Swiss pocket knife probably contains weapons and ammo in addition to everyone else.Ya whatever. Their Interior Ministry said they didn't have any ammo. They shoulda known better than to invade without some.
Dagobahn Eagle Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Two grins in one post. I don't see that too often;). As a side note, I didn't even know the Swiss had an army:p.
Samuel Dravis Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Next story: Easter Island invades Vatican City! Easter Island's troops had better watch their backs then, because the Vatican has Swiss guards!
RoxStar Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Easter Island's troops had better watch their backs then, because the Vatican has Swiss guards! I've always equated the Papal Swiss Guards to Palpy's Royal guards.

lukeiamyourdad Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Two thousand years ago, the proudest boast was "civis romanus sum". Today, the proudest boast is "Ich bin ein Liechtensteiner". that made my day! I can just imagine Liechtenstein invading Europe. Now that would be an awesome sight hehe. It's the revenge of the puny principalities/tax havens!
