BongoBob
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEllllEZAAgEyoVOfY.php 'Linux' or 'Unix' is Inappropriate Language as LIVE Motto According to Microsoft >> From riverag.com: I love Linux and the XBOX 360, so yesterday I tried to include the word "LINUX" in the motto section on XBOX Live. I was stunned when I got a message saying "Your motto contains inappropriate language. Please try again". I tried this myself to make sure it wasn't any kinda hoax ... I tried to put just the word 'linux' as motto to my gamertag and indeed ... Microsoft refused it. I also tried 'unix' ... but that didn't pass the Redmond filter either. Seriously, how low can you go MS? Come on now : |
Darth Groovy
LOLZ I tried to change my motto to "I Hate Your Children" earlier this summer, and got that same message. I was able to skirt the filter by changing it too "H8ter of your Children."

Curt-Man
Not necessarily a bad thing, it prevents people form bashing linux as well.
Jeff
I wonder if apple is inappropriate language as well? Thats just silly.

Maybe we should ban all first names, countries, cultures, and music genres so that they aren't bashed as well.
Gargoyle King
MS can get pretty wierd sometimes can't they?! Hey, someone should try typing in "Apple" or "Mac" and see if the same thing comes up, if so then it woud seem that MS is directly blocking names of it's competitors which is somewhat childish IMO. BongoBob
Somewhat childish? Yeah, I'd skip somewhat and go to entirely childish.

But "apple" is a fairly common word and I'm sure there are some people who spell their first name "Mac."
