Monkey Mania Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=40300 The Hobbit part 1 = 2010 The Hobbit part 2 = 2011 Peter Jackson to produce.
Pie™ Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I'm worried about this "sequel" the article mentions. I hope it's just another way of saying they'll split it into two movies.
Pho3nix Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Yeah I wonder why they're making a sequel. :3
Commander Obi-Wan Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 The fact that Peter Jackson is producing it makes me quite happy. Though, I do have to agree with Pie here.
Achilles Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 That's true, but a strong producer still has a lot of say.
Black Knight of Keno Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I hope splitting it in two will mean that it'll be following as much of the book as it can, unlike they did with LotR. But if it means they'll just be throwing in some crazy Lucas-style **** that makes no sense at all, I must say I'll be passing. That is, if it gets finished at any point or end up like Halo, which was also produced by the almighty Mr. Jackson
Lightsaberboy Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 why would they need to split the movie up. they did fine with LOTR books and those were thicker. prolly just another way to make more money.
Jeff Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Yeah I'm a little uncertain about the sequel they mention, but I'm very happy to hear all those legal disputes are over with and that Peter Jackson is heading this up.
Dagobahn Eagle Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 they did fine with LOTR books and those were thicker.Nope. They had to make three separate movies [ducks:p]
Prime Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I hope the films are aimed a bit younger audience like the original books...
herosinger Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Halo wasn't happening anytime soon, anyway. The reason there are two movies is that there will be much more than just the Hobbit. Here's another article: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/12/its-back-to-mid.html
Pie™ Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 The first would deal with the 80-year old novel. The second, imagined entirely by Jackson and Walsh, would link the conclusion of The Hobbit to the start of the first Lord of the Rings book, The Fellowship of the Ring. Damnit, stay away from my hobbitses.
Jeff Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 At first I didn't like the idea of them making everything up for the sequel but I guess if anyone can do it Peter Jackson can. I trust him to not ruin it. Just wish he'd direct.
Commander Obi-Wan Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Yay! QFE. It probably would be aimed towards younger audiences since The Hobbit is one. More than the "Lord of the Rings" books, at least.
Monkey Mania Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 People, it's only the Hobbit split into two parts. Not a sequel.
Jeff Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Halo wasn't happening anytime soon, anyway. The reason there are two movies is that there will be much more than just the Hobbit. Here's another article: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/12/its-back-to-mid.html ^ Says the first movie is the original Hobbit novel and the second is a bridge between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
