Jae Onasi
Wtf they keep telling me to switch my phone off n stuff so what are they doing with a Wi-Fi network? Hypocrits...lolz Certain radio frequencies do interfere with equipment, and that's more of a concern in the ICUs and surgery where they're using a lot of equipment and interference can mean a loss of critical information or a malfunction of critical equipment. If the hospital runs the wifi, they can control those frequencies. Part of it is just to cut down on the noise, too. A lot of people are not too considerate when using their phones and will talk loudly as they walk down the hallways, which disturbs patients who are trying to rest. I've also had patients take phone calls in the middle of an eye exam. One was to talk about pizza, and the girl didn't seem to be disturbed at all that she'd just interrupted me in the middle of doing some tests on her and was now making any patients who followed behind her wait. Patients are now asked to turn off phones (or let messages go to voicemail) during the time they're in the room with me, and that's become standard in just about any doctor's office or medical facility.
