Just got done paintballing with some co-workers at http://www.apocalypsepaintball.com/ Fricken awsome time. I only got one welt on my arm that actaully broke the skin. Two smaller one on my belly, and back, and one on my left buttcheek. The three on my back hurt A LOT

I prefer the "barricade" type games that just has a peices of cover to hide behind. Instead of the "Forts". In one game it was perfect as I was on the far right side flanking and i had a couple stand off in the center. as I moved up I noticed exactly to my left an opponent about 50 feet away, and i pegged him in the facemask on my first shot. Then it was a matter of using suppressive fire and i was able to out flank and rout the enemy.

We are planning to do it again next spring. way too much fun, and the Guy who runs the place is super cool, and really good.

I was trying to convey on how the people who figured out the things about particle physics and quantum theory have NO LIVES. You think we're bad? Yeah, look at those guys.

*shiver*

Though this weekend I do get the pleasure of watching my sisters cats. They're really well behaved and extremely cute.

And most likely the closest thing I'll have to a niece and nephew.

heh getting hit in the neck from 25 feet away hurt me pretty bad. :) i can't wait to go again. hopefully november, i put in for the 2 days off for it.

today pretty much sucked. got news that my friend's (my friend that used to work in photo with me) mom died last night (she had cancer). :(

As for me, I can't wait to be home finally

i'm going trick-or-treating with my niece this year ^_^

she's going as snow white,...

... I think i'll just go as her Jedi Knight protector :joy:

as for my nephew, it'll be a few years before he will go out, he's only about 7-8mo old

squee!

Went to the mall yesterday to get some new shoes. It was a mistake.

First: The place was MOBBED (what bad economy???)

Second: I struck out on the shoes. None of the stores that carried the brand/ style I like are there anymore, or stopped stocking them.

I guess I have to resort to shopping online.

Went out last night with friends to catch up with a former student who worked for us who was back in town for the weekend. Ate at a southern-style barbecue/ brew-pub place in Brookline that was really good.

Dark Knight in IMAX tonight. Not taking "no" for an answer.

... ok, I give up. Wikipedia has confused me to no end with it's non-linerar subject reading.

I once thought I had a strong grasp of quantum mechanics and theory. 12 hours later...... I feel more confused than a <insert off colour and possible offensive comment here>. So I submit myself to you, our X-Wing Netters.

I need some good primers on QM and Theory. I should also look into a refresher on physics itself. Does anyone know of any good readers on the subjects? Something that explains not only the theory but also the math and gives the student examples to work through, with solutions? I'm having trouble finding such a book.

Not really. I tend to read "pop" science books... stuff by Hawking, Kaku, Greene... that describe the theories in general terms without too much math, much of which would be over my head without a lot of remedial review first.

I'd like to learn the math too at some point... but for now just a general overview of the concepts will do.

Saw Dark Knight. It was pretty epic in IMAX.

Boston is in lockdown mode. All the cars getting towed, and police presence at ever major intersection. Waiting for the riot...

Doesn't look too good for the Sox at this point, though. :( Down 2 points in the bottom of the 8th. Not totally impossible to make up... but I think I'd be surprised if they pull it out.

I haven't found any. It seems all the books out there are for n00bs or experts. It's either no math or math they don't explain at all.

What specifically is giving you trouble?

Well, there's yer problem! I think that was where you made your first mistake...

Don't you know that the interweb is only good for lookn' at porn, son?!?? Nothing more... nothing less! You can't actually do real research on it!

:joy:

I have this book beside my bed. I look at it from time to time. (Yeah... I'm "that guy...")

It's a good remedial refresher on both concepts and math, though probably not as deep as you want to go into the quantum universe.

Mostly the theory. I think I'm getting confused because I was more focused on space-time relations and other facets of advanced physics rather than the real stuff down at the sub-atomic level. Which is cool, but I never really grasped any of that.

That, and a high schoolers mind really can't grasp the idea of sub-atomic particles. I mean, quarks? Hmmm........

So I think understanding the concepts then moving to the math would probably be the best choice. Starting from the beginning.

If you're in high school, you don't know the math you need to understand this yet. So either wait until you take it in college or, if you're not going to be taking those classes, forget about it and just read the pop sci Brian Greene stuff. Also, search YouTube - there are some pretty good videos explaining some of the concepts.

Show is over. A bigger pain in the arse than it really needed to be.

First half ran way long, so that blew the schedule for the rest of the show. Should have been out of here a half-hour ago at the very least.

Oh well... headin' home. Need food.
