Astor
Well, most of you know me, and i've decided to try and take the plunge into the deep pool that is modding. The thing is, I literally know NOTHING about modding. My idea is that i'd like to add a robe to TSL similar to Prime's clone wars amour mod. The difference is that these will be what I think the Exile may have worn during his/her time as a general. So, what i'm trying to do is create an armour/robe, that will have a traditional outer robe, but underneath there will be a republic uniform instead of a Jedi tunic. I may also think about do a version with Sith armour underneath. I haven't got time at the minute, but I'm planning on leaping through the tutorials later today, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks/hints that could help a pilgrim in an unholy land? And, do you think that someone with relatively no skill could do something like what I've outlined? Thanks, Astor.

The second one is going to be tricky. I suspect that adding armor plating under the robe (if you want it to look decent) will involve retexturing AND modeling (ie mdl/mdx). Robe models do not react well to attempts to add shiny textures. They become transparent instead of shiny. I would recommend studying the files that Prime created and see how much you can learn from those. You can learn quite a bit by looking at the files that other modders have produced. Darth InSidious
Take your time and plan carefully would be my advice. It's a lot easier if you know exactly what you're doing.
Marius Fett
Some people find it easier to make some notes on a scrap of paper, or make a quick sketch of what they'd like to achieve.
EnderWiggin
Take your time and plan carefully would be my advice. It's a lot easier if you know exactly what you're doing. Absolutely. And I suggest keeping this mod safe for a little bit, if you're actually interested in it. You might want to do a couple throwaway projects to get yourself a bit more experienced before you try to do one that you want to release. Takes longer, but produces a better result _EW_
jonathan7
Aye, explore KotOR tool, get used to the way the mod tools work, in terms of skinning do a couple of the tutorials and get to know the skinning programme you use. (I use Photoshop) And I think one of the keys to successful skins is patience, and knowing the various functions the programme has (edit - undo, being very useful ). Astor
Thanks for advice everyone. I've been looking through Kotor tool, mostly at the .tga files, and it doesn't seem too difficult, but the proof is in the test, I guess.
