diduz
I cannot find ANY information on a release date for the second part of Insecticide. Any clue?
Ascovel
Well, if it helps I know for sure Crackpot is working on it all the time and I'm guessing we are only weeks before the release.
Udvarnoky
It's a good question diduz, and characteristically of Gamecock the public has never been thrown a bone.
diduz
Well, if it helps I know for sure Crackpot is working on it all the time and I'm guessing we are only weeks before the release. Good to know. I wonder why we have to get all these informations through the grapevine...
Ascovel
Depends how you interpret the given information. The official site is so sure of the imminent release that since a few months it states both episodes are already available for download.
neon_git
It would seem Gamecock are no more, or at least they are under new management. With any luck these SouthPeak folks may be competent enough to give us a release date.
V_Ben
south peak are competent enough, but i reckon crackpot are going nuts on episode 2, fixing every criticism of the first one. maybe there'll be less shooting this time.
Udvarnoky
The game's missions are set in stone - the whole game has been available in DS form since March. The PC version is the exact same game, only good thanks to things like decent visuals and full voice acting.
Ascovel
Are you sure Crackpot isn't adding some new scenes to the PC version? Anyway, I'm worried that it is taking so long to release Part 2. At this point it's probably only because of the publisher's management change.
Udvarnoky
Insecticide is comprised of 18 missions, which can all be played on the DS version, and Insecticide Part 1 contains roughly the first half of those missions. The technical differences are obviously huge, but they're still the same levels. Why would they suddenly significantly change the second half of the game? (As for "adding new scenes" - some of the cutscenes had to be replaced by subtitled slide shows for the DS version since all of them in FMV form couldn't be fit on the cartridge. The PC version features all of the cutscenes.)
Ascovel
Why would they suddenly significantly change the second half of the game? I just thought they might add some bonus location or some cool Easter Egg. I haven't played the DS version, but from what Levine said they certainly tweaked the controls a lot for Part 1, so who knows what they did (or did not) to Part 2 in all this time (except betatesting obviously). BTW, how many adventure gameplay levels will be in Part 2 (judging by the DS version)?
Udvarnoky
I don't have my DS handy with me right now, but of the 18 missions, about half are shooters and half graphic adventures. Aside from some cases where you'll get two shooter levels consecutively, the game almost makes every other level one style of gameplay (shooter-adventure-shooter-adventure). So, however many adventure missions Part 1 had, Part 2 should have about the same. Also, if I remember right, Part 1 for PC ends after mission eight, so Part 2 should have ten levels total in it. Ascovel
The rest of the game is even longer? Great! Damn, I really can't wait to see what will happen in the second half.
Udvarnoky
I think the reason they ended Part 1 after the eighth mission is because, story-wise, it was the most sensible place to stop. Big climactic boss fight and everything.
Ascovel
I thought the cliff-hanger ending was very good, like from a good TV series that makes you not want to miss the next episode at any cost. Too bad the waiting time is so long in this case.

diduz
Baaaaaaaaaaaaad news, guys. I've sent an e-mail to Crackpot Entertainment and Mike Levine told me Insecticide PC has been cancelled by Southpeak. They're angry. I am too. Someone has to save Part 2 from oblivion. Telltale? Anyone??!?!?!
Ascovel
What's particularly aggravating is that Sothpeak/Gamecock have kept Crackpot in uncertainty for months.
SyntheticGerbil
Sorry to bump this, but I'm wondering if anyone has any inside news here at Mojo about the second part. I've completed the DS game and I enjoyed it a lot more than everyone else, I guess. I was holding out for the PC version until part 2 came along. Really wanted to import the DVD case copy that was going to be released in the UK. It seems Larry Ahern never even posted the cutscenes for part 2 on Youtube like he was saying.
