LordOfTheFish
So I have a problem with itunes. For Christmas I got a laptop, right, so here I am with a empty itunes but all the songs I purchased are on my desktop. Is there anyway to transfer my songs without downloading all of them on CDs? My desktops virtual memory chip is completely fried, so it over heats and shuts off when things like youtube videos, or PC games are run. I've spent hundreds of dollars on purchased songs, and I'd hate to lose them. Any help is appreciated.
Rabish Bini
Not to sure understanding the problem, but put every single song in one folder, then from iTunes go File>Add folder to library>click on folder>click ok Hope that helps
LordOfTheFish
I know how to add folders, the problem is how do I transfer the songs from one computer to another.
urluckyday
^External hard drive? If you have a network that both computers are part of, you can share the folders and whatnot.
LordOfTheFish
Ok, so I discovered the easiest way to transfer the songs is by ipod. I'll be doing that at some point today. Thanks anyway guys. Requesting lock.
urluckyday
^Do you have a program that lets you rip your songs from your ipod? Because Apple doesn't let you do it through iTunes to my knowledge.

Rabish Bini
Or you could just put the sngs on your iPod and download iPod copy manager or something similiar to copy from iPod to computer, i find it easier.
urluckyday
I'm basically using my ipod like a flashdrive. Well like I said...unless you put the songs on your ipod as it's data rather than songs in the ipod's library, it won't transfer to your computer. You'll probably need some sort of program or something to get the songs off the iPod otherwise... Yet another reason why I choose Zune over iPods. But hey, I have a major bias. If you put all your purchased songs on an iPod, then there should be an option to "transfer purchases from iPod" or something like that. Might have to enter your username and password to authorize your account, but that should do it.
RoxStar
You'll probably need some sort of program or something to get the songs off the iPod otherwise... One can just uncheck the auto-sync button
Astrotoy7
Requesting lock. lolz.. request denied! unless theres flaming or adbot mayhem, threads at LFNtech are allowed to age and die with dignity I use iTunes for iTunesU downloads only. Otherwise, I am really not fond of it at all mtfbwya

jrrtoken
Screw all of them, foobar2k is the way to go. Not a resource hog like WMP and iTunes.
RoxStar
^Agreed...iTunes is lame...Zune Marketplace anyone?! lol...guess not. I tried to love my Zune. I truly did. The amount of ****ing memory that application takes up is unholy!!!! It would also randomly delete songs off of my Zune 30. I love my iPhone/iTunes, so suck it. I love my iPod and there's no way I'm going back.
Astrotoy7
I love my iPhone/iTunes, so suck it. suck the iphone? Its far too big, and doesnt have cut n paste One place where a WMP compliant device wins is drag n drop through explorer, no sync. Drag, drop, play..bang! You can bypass WMP altogether if you like. (or just useit to correct art/track details). I have a cheap ole iriver E100 which only gets used when I go jogging There are apps that enable this with ipods too actually. I plow through OS installations so frequently, a large footprint app like itunes just doesnt work for me. If you have ever unpacked the itunes installer... theres is a bunch of unexplained crud in there... WTF is 'bonjour' for starters (apart for the french word for hello/good-day) mtfbwya
Pho3nix
I'm actually one of the iPod owners who hates iTunes, I've had multiple clashes with it.

Jae Onasi
^Do you have a program that lets you rip your songs from your ipod? Because Apple doesn't let you do it through iTunes to my knowledge. I use a utility called Podlift to copy songs from my iPod to my hard drive. After that I can move the songs anywhere. There may be better utilities out there, but this one is free, it's easy to use, and it's available from download.com.

Do you use google docs, Edit photos online?.... Everyone has their preferences and I think it's silly to try and wage an internet war based on personal preference. Astrotoy7
Everyone has their preferences and I think it's silly to try and wage an internet war based on personal preference. Im also not sure which internet war you are referring to?? Maybe this one !! >>>> a large footprint app like itunes just doesnt work for me Hence, what it does for everyone else is their business, no war necessary I havent used google docs since finding Adobe Buzzword and all of my games do run independently from a separate drive thanks to some reghacking. As I play games in vista(x64) and am involved in W7(x86 and 64) compatibility testing, its the easiest option, rather than install them across all 3 platforms It will have cut, copy and paste in the next update. I dont know why they didnt put that in from the start...what were they thinking!? The significantly less fashionista winMo and palm devices have had that feature since day one. You actually practise a cut and paste as part of calibrating a winMo device since 2002. In any event, its good to see they responded to feedback mtfbwya
