Star Wars: The Sith Resurrection Part VI: Death to the Sith

"Here goes nothing." Kalla commented as she followed Tonatius into the ship. She began examining the gun turrets, in order to get a good understand of how they worked, since she'd likely be using one of them before they made it to the planet.

"Standing by." Komad sent out, activating his ship's engines and flying out of the hangar.

"Good choice," Tavaryn replied, "Often one finds they are happy in the work they do best. Belina is fair."

He then turned to Alriana as she came back from what she wanted to do. He listened to the pride in her voice and said, "Very clever. Drain their source of energy. Let me lead. I know where to find something flyable." He then walked into the lift and held it ready after entering the hangar level in the console.

Tyrannus looked at the girl smiling in amusement. Virul always preferred the innocents. He replied, "You think that revenge is all that drives me? So little you know my pretty. Your betrayal was expected of you since Virul could never resist an opportunity to try and kill me. No my dear. There are thigns far older that carry weight."

Tyrannus cleared the board and reset it but he had changed the look of it to reflect warriors of old. "My pursuits are millenia old beginning with the ancients who broke off from their diplomatic brethren. One united and led and now carries the blood of darkness and light within them." He made a move. "These Sith see nothing more than arguments over ideology with the Jedi, what is known by me, and others like me are wars raged over possession of the soul. One body, one soul is the battleground. You ask how I deal with betrayal, it means nothing to me, only to be expected of those who cannot see beyond their desires. The Blood King is the ultimate manifestation of one side. His counterpart resides in manifestation of another."

He made a show with his hand," Your move my pretty."

Tonatius examined his side and sent over his headset, "Looks like they might be a bit sluggish against fighters but they'll do until we land...wherever we're going."

He checked switches and glanced to see Kalla busy. Since he was alone, he thought that he'd might try to connect with his cousin. Even though he never used the Fore, he was not unfamiliar with its pull on everything. Seizing on it, he asked to be transported to where his cousin was. He felt something dark and cold but also the spark that was her. It was to this spark that he reached out.

"Roger that," Alkéa replied. She listened as the individual fighters reported in. It had been Tiye's idea to use the ghostriders and now they sounded like a good idea. She could barely make them out as they held position ready for lightspeed. She then said, "Rogue Leader to Akbar, all wings report ready."

((Never mind the romance between Garja and Alriana. Not gonna happen anymore.))

"Good choice, Often one finds they are happy in the work they do best. Belina is fair."

Garja nodded.

"Not to mention that she commands the one ship in the republic fleet that the sith fear the most. I can tell you from personal experience that her ship has been upgraded enough to fight off three Sith star destroyers at once."

He watched as Alriana came forward with a smile on her face and knew instantly what she had done to the Grand Admiral's Star Destroyer.

She must have sabotaged the weapons systems somehow. Very clever.

"Very clever. Drain their source of energy. Let me lead. I know where to find something flyable."

Alriana and Garja both followed the man into the life and Garja smiled. The Admiral would instantly know what had happend but it would be too late.

Garja was still smiling even as the lift doors closed in front of him.

Ackbar

"Rogue Leader to Akbar, all wings report ready."

Belina was about to give the order to go to lightspeed when alarms began to sound across the bridge.

"Admiral! Emergency communication coming in from one of our scout ships! They report a large Sith fleet heading toward this sector. Message is as follows:

"This is Commander Ji-klo of the scout ship Shan! We have an emergency communication for the Mon Calamari battleship Ackbar. A large sith fleet is moving in on your position at high speed. Our intelligence reports say that Grand Admiral Velerc is commanding the fleet and intends to destroy the station and any ships that he finds in the immediate area. I repeat, this is Commander Ji-Klo of the Sco-"

Belina began issuing commands immediatly.

"Open channels to all ships. Tell them to take up a protective formation around the station. Tell Jun-La to take four Star Destroyers with her and a few support cruisers if she needs them. The majority of the task force will be staying here with us to defend the station."

Belina stared out the bridge viewscreen into the depths of space, knowing that soon it would be a battleground

Betrayal. Lust. Hatred. Vengeance. All of these emotions flooded Andirrul's mind as she made her moves. She would have Kalla, or she would have nothing--not even the whole galaxy mattered as much as that one. Either Kalla would be hers, or she would die.

Die...Such a final word, if it were not for the Force. Would the Jedi torment her if she so happened to be slain in battle? Hardly. Jedi let go of all base passions such as contempt. It was what made them weak, and what made the Sith strong. Passion fueled life, and peace and stagnation ended it. It was why she took Virul's queen with such fury...

...and lost. Gritting her teeth, she cried, "Shakh!", or 'check', knowing it was all over.

While preparing the gun turrets, Kalla pondered the situation with Andirrul. How many of those atrocities were Virul's doing, and how many were Andorra's? How many could she forgive, if any? Even if Tonatius weren't a factor, could they really be together again? Would she even want to be with such a monster?

"Understood, Commander. However, if Velerc is planning to attack the station, I strongly recommend all civilians and non-essential personnel be evacuated." Reyvan sent out to the Akbar.

Tyrannus clicked his tongue on his teeth at her move yet his sardonic smile remained. He was unpurturbed by her childish tantrums. He could sense her desires and rage. With a huge grin, he moved his piece and said, "Check mate." He sat back and sighed. "No game of dejarik can be won without pawns and this proves to be a very long game."

At that moment, Karaka came with the Blood King. That meant everything on the ground was ready. the Blood King said, "Prepare your troops the both of you. The space battle will begin first."

Tyrannus nodded and said to Andirrul, "Well my pretty, do you have sufficient ships?"

***********

Tavaryn, took the service vents through the ship to the hangar bays. It avoided most of the troops that would be patrolling the halls. When he reached the end of the tunnel, he placed his hand on a panel and paused. He then carefully removed it to open the vent. He peered out and looked around, "We're two corridors away from the main bay." He jumped down and placed his hat on his head, giving his brim a little swipe.

Peering down the hall, he was surprised that there were no troops in sight. He commented to the former Imperial, "Seems like captain is busy somewhere's."

***********

Tonatius felt the rage and anger and felt flung back to where he was. He could feel Kalla's pain and doubts of what was going to happen. Through his headset, he said, "We'll cross the river when we come to it."

There was nothing more to be said for Alkéa'a voice came over the comm saying that they were jumping to lightspeed. Matton's voice came over confirming and the ship began to lurch forward as it made the jump.

"Are you planning on assisting me in the upcoming battle against Admiral Velerc? Knowing the Grand Admiral's strategies he's most likely bringing in a larger force of ships then I can handle."

Barek nodded, "Of course I will help. You will need everything available to stop such an adaptable commander as Velerc is."

Memories of his training under Velerc came to mind, but he shook them out, focus is what he needed now.

He suddenly recieved the fleet arrival confirmation he had been waiting for. Barek blinked at a flashing red button in his helmet, bringing up a viewscreen of the massive ship, Keyev, with its sizeable task force.

"Well, the Mando'a have arrived, Admiral Belina. Garrick has made good on his promise...."

He knew that no number of ships could beat Velerc. He was a genius...they'd need a clever mind like his to win this battle.

Admiral Velerc stood above the Bridge on a floating platform, awaiting their arrival in Republic space.

He looked down at Lieutenant Jerek.

"Lieutenant. What's the status of our 'loose prisoners?"

Jerek checked a viewscreen and looked back up.

"They're on their way to the hangars...quite cautiously, Sir."

Velerc sighed, "Well, make sure the area is evacuated. Let them leave......they'll provide us with enough time to prepare for battle."

The order was strange, but Velerc had his reasons.

Jerek rose his voice again, "Sir, 5 minutes until we reach the Station."

He nodded back coldly.

Huntau Station

Imperial Covert Ops Shuttle

Captain Markun ran down the landing ramp into the Republic station. His force of 20 commandoes followed quickly and they broke into the hallways of the station.

Admiral Velerc had ordered them personally to infiltrate Huntau Station, and to take hostages of the important citizens of the Station, just in case the space battle did not go as planned.

Several civilians spotted them, and tried to best to run off screaming, but the commandoes moved faster, taking down 3 of them and shooting the others in the back of the head.

Captain Markun ordered the prisoners back to the shuttle, and he led his troops to the nearby barracks. He knew that the most important hostages-to-be would be in there.

"Well, the Mando'a have arrived, Admiral Belina. Garrick has made good on his promise...."

Belina nodded and then smiled in relief.

"Good. Now that we're just about evenly matched...I can start planning this battle out. "

She turned to face the Mandalorian.

"Now...I estimate we have five to ten minutes before Admiral Velerc arrives. I want a few of your ships to take up a protective formation around the station before he arrives. I'm going to guess that the station will be a secondary target with me being the primary target."

Tavaryn grinned and gently ran his finger on the brim of his hat, "There are a few things that could be done. We have a Jedi, a soldier and me. I'd say that hardly seems fair."

Sensing that his companions weren't going to be quick on his humor like Kyle Katarn was, he turned to a gun rack and hit a rifle so it popped up in the air. He caught it with ease and checked before tossing it to the Imperial former. He then handed some power packs just in case. "If that is the case then we fight. I am sure Alriana can get her lightsaber, if that isn't a problem?" He looked at both his companions expectantly.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Komad commented as his X-38 made the jump into hyperspace.

"Listen to me! A New Imperial fleet is coming this way. Their main focus is the Republic ships, but they're likely going to attack this station first, and hold it for ransom, and I need everyone who can handle a blaster to help me mount a defense!" Iyav shouted out to the others in the barracks. "Why should we listen to you? You're just a trainee!" One of the higher ranking security officers replied. "Doesn't matter. What matters is I know what I'm talking about. If you don't believe me, check the scanners yourself. Now, who's with me?"

Jun-la was having the same thoughts as Komad as she watched normal space leave as they entered hyperspace. She had been around and about the Unknown Regions but where they were going was unfamiliar territory yet her father seemed to know exactly where they were going and what to expect. She stared out the window wondering what they were going to find.

Meanwhile Tonatius was settling in after they jumped into hyperspace. He tapped his headset and asked, "Kalla, are you afraid?"

"If that is the case then we fight. I am sure Alriana can get her lightsaber.

Alriana reached for her lightsaber and ignited it as she brought it up.

"Your right. It really does seem slightly unfair. They'll need more troops for this to be an even battle."

She turned to look at Tavaryn and Garja.

"I'm ready to go if you two are."

"I suppose so. What if when we get down there, we find out that Andorra's been acting of her own free will the whole time? She could just be drawing strength in the Force from Virul. Even if we free her from Virul's influence, can we live with what she has done?" Kalla asked. "Can she?"

Iyav had managed to set up barricades and other sources of cover throughout the barracks in preparation for the stormtroopers. Once they were spotted outside, he opened the door just enough to roll a frag grenade through, and re-locked it. "That should keep them at bay for a bit." He commented.

Tavaryn grinned and led the way to the hangar bay. With a brief moment to spare he used Force Sense to determine if any opponents were there. From his musings there was a sizeable group. He reported, "Esitmate a platoon size group not counting the hangar bay personnel. We can attack from above or charge right in. Your call." He directed towards his companions.

Tonatius thought for a moment before replying, "The measure of a person is not just by the actions one takes but by how they choose to live with it. When they perceive their self worth, they dictate it to others. So in essence, what she wants us to believe is what she is. I can only hope that she remembers enough."

As Komad's X-38 came out of hyperspace, he sent a transmission down to the planet below. "I want to speak with Virul. And no, I don't mean Andirrul, I mean Darth Virul." He said. "Is this what you're reduced to? Manipulating your victims? Days of old, you had complete control. Do you really think that after Andorra dies, that you'll even get that far? I think that twenty-three years of stealing bodies is finally taking its toll. Your time is running out." True, he was trying to goad Virul into tightening his grip, but with good reason. He understood that Virul's influence was far too subtle for Andorra to resist, but that would change if it became any more direct.

"Do you think the Andorra we remember would have approved of ... us?" Kalla asked before she heard her father's transmission. "What is he doing?" She then asked, though not directly to anyone in particular.

"We are family," Tonatius replied, "We share our joys and sadness, failures and triumphs." He wasn't sure if he could give a sufficient answer to that question. When he overheard Kalla muttering to herself, he leaned forward to look out.

From what he could see, he spotted Komad's fighter. Rogue Squadron and the Ghostriders were holding their position. He wondered what was going on.

Andirrul suddenly felt her entire body turn ice-cold. The part of her that was still a young and naive maiden from Avalon grew fearful, but the part of her that was the parasite, the Sith Lord, felt only anger. Rage. The boiling contempt for an enemy that welled to the surface at that very moment...

No, Jedi. It is your time that is running out, and that of the woman that my host still loves. It is Andirrul's passion for her that makes her incomplete, unrealized still as the Dark Lady of the Sith. You believe that twenty-three years of stealing bodies has made me weaker? Hardly! With every body I inhabit, I become stronger, especially if the body itself is young and strong. She is keen, this one, and strong in the Force. It is I, however, who made her realize her...capacities. Without me, she would still be a pampered female for the upper caste of her people, and now? Now she is mine, and she is great. Challenge me if you dare, but know that you will be the one to die.

"Do you think this is what she wanted? She hates you, and everything you stand for. You're just using her! I know you, and you only care about yourself, and cheating death, no matter what the cost. If you could have destroyed her mind, like you always do, you would have already. The first time you died, it took the Mandalorian Jedi to defeat you, and last time, it took just a girl, with no proper combat training, a girl whose body you can't even control. You're not getting stronger at all. You're getting weaker." Komad replied, maintaining the high ground in this battle of wits against his old nemesis.

Alriana lifted her lightsab and stepped into the corridor facing the door to the hanger.

"I say we charge right in. I will lead the charge if no one else wishes to lead it. What do you two say?"

Garja nodded his head and brought the blaster rifle he was carrying up. "I agree with Alriana. A direct charge into the hanger will suprise them and give us a slight edge in the fight."

Virul laughed, his merriment dark and hollow. Listening to his gleeful cackle would make you think he was triumphant, insane, or both. In this case, it was definitely both.

Wahahahaha! Sometimes the firmest control over a mind is the subtlest. Sometimes Andirrul can't tell what atrocities I myself have prompted her to commit and which ones she herself has invented. I am like a poison, seeping in gradually and killing all that is left of a sentient being not through brute force, as is typical of the Sith, but through insidious and careful infiltration. It will not be long before I take complete control, which will occur during the inevitable battle between my host and her former...companion. Andirrul is playing dejarik right now, and doing well, but little does she know it is I who gave her that single victory. As much as I loathe you, I relish the thought of meeting you. It shall be the endgame for you, Jedi scum, at my hand!

"Oh, I doubt that. What you've failed to consider is that with all the power Andorra has because of your influence, she could turn it against you at any moment. Mind you, she'd lose it all immediately afterwards, but knowing her, that's a sacrifice she'd be willing to make in order to destroy you once and for all. And of course, she's heard everything just now." Komad replied, unsure if Virul would respond with arrogant dismissal, or genuine fear. They were both equally likely, and what he said was completely true.

"She may, but she won't," replied Lord Virul. "You see, the part of her that is me revels in hatred and violence, which the other part of her naturally detests, but the part of her that is Andorra has come to treasure power and victory. Do you think she was completely satisfied to be the daughter of a highly-powerful stateswoman? All that is hers is due to her foster mother, and she knows it. Through me, she has gained power for herself, and she won't dare lose it!

"Also, do you really think you'll be able to forgive her after what she's done? Slain that idiot spy of hers who was the false apprentice of one of your allies? Do you think that Kalla will be able to forgive her, especially if she loves another? Andirrul does not bear loss well--witness her dejarik games against Lord Tyrannus. If you were only able to sever your ties with her, then maybe you stand a chance against her--and me. Redemption is impossible in this situation, because in a matter of one hour I shall wipe Andorra's mind clean and assume full reign over her fleshly form. When that happens, then you die!"

"Now...I estimate we have five to ten minutes before Admiral Velerc arrives. I want a few of your ships to take up a protective formation around the station before he arrives. I'm going to guess that the station will be a secondary target with me being the primary target."

Barek nodded, and gave a quick salute. An odd show of respect from a Mandalorian, as both Belina and Barek were Admirals, and commanders of great fleets. It was his way of confirming that he had a very high respect of Belina.

"Will do..."

He paused for a moment.

"May the force...and the Warrior Spirit..be with us."

He turned and left, transmitting orders to the Keyev and its fleet to begin formation.

Garrick peered out of the sleek cockpit of a modified Basalisk war droid fighter.

He pushed down on the control stick, diving at a near vertical angle, and then pulling back hard, coming in line with the Republic fighters below.

"Republic Squadrons, this is Garrick Derekil with Basalisk Squadron Mandokarla, do we have permission to join yout fighter formation?"

Captain Markun of the Imperial Commandoes slapped a sticky charge onto the duri-steel wall.

One of the other squad members shouted, "Charge set!" And they slammed themselves onto the walls, taking cover for the blast.

Markun pressed a combination of buttons on the charge, seeting the timer for 4 seconds. He activated the timer and ran back, getting into position 5 yards away behind a crate.

"FIRE IN THE HOLE!"

Right as he finished his sentence, the charge exploded, and everything went white for a moment as debris sprayed everywhere and little pieces of shrapnel scratched Markun's visor.

He stood up, and with his squad, charged into the smoke, firing stun bolts into the hole that led into the barracks.

Velerc shifted his weight back and forth onto each foot nervously. It surprised him, as this was the first time he'd been nervous since....since his first mission as a lowly cadet, serving with Grand Admiral Thrawn. He was 16 then, and the Empire was trying to reestablish itself, very much like it was trying to do now.

He checked his chrono.

Three more minutes...and then this battle will begin..

There was something different about this one...he didn't know what, but it scared the daylights out of him.
